Thank you both above. It’s been a long while and I need to pick up a cake of Saponificio Varesino again.

Joserra’s Vetiver. This Spanish soap cooker two hours west of Madrid makes beautiful soaps. The Spanish artisans have a unique style producing a very creamy luxurious lather.

Some soaps just take me on a mental trip and Pre de Provence is one of those.  Most take me back to my childhood and young man times and generally hearken to outdoor events or situations.  This is not that.  This soap takes me back to Lancaster PA on a business trip many years ago.  I was just starting back into DE Shaving and had carried with me some VandeHagen and a vintage Gillette.  I happened to be rolling through downtown Lancaster and ran across a shop named Zanzibar which happened to carry several shaving soaps and creams and I bought this puck of PdP.  From then and forever the sage scent of this soap will not remind me of France or my beloved Idaho mountains but of my great friends and business associates in The Great State of Pennsylvania.  Much maligned, this soap used to get headlines, and it should yet.  Easy, very easy to lather and the scent is a pleasant 5/10 leaning on herbal sage.  It smells clean and fresh.  Sure, the finish is a bit dry compared with today's super-fatted soaps but there is something about a triple milled puck that will always pull me in.  Besides, I always use a post shave moisturizer to keep my testosterone fueled man beast image alive.  I sure do like the shave PdP offers.

I noticed Maggard was carrying a new scent from Shannon's Soaps and since I love her base so much, I decided to grab yet another new soap (i really have to stop visiting that site  Smile).  The scent is mostly apricot and is in stark contrast to yesterday's Pine Tar.  I loaded from a dry puck with a damp 30mm tuxedo for about 30 seconds.  Four to five minutes of face-lathering produced the lather I expected from such a great artisan soap...
