Miel v. (Lainess) honey, spices, coffee

The puck smells like you've drizzled a big spoon of honey over a well-buttered croissant. Tempting for a breakfast, but a bit odd for a shave soap. However, the lather this quirky cake makes smells much softer. It comes out sweet and clean and rich with a spicy side that borders on amber. Definitely a cool weather fragrance, Miel goes down best on blustery cool mornings when you're looking for a thick cosy lather that will wrap you up like a wool sweater. It's a little tub of comfort.

Grooming Dept Aion, very nice soap with a really great woody scent. Right up my alley!

I am a rose fragrance lover. The dilemma is that some of, or most of the rose fragrances [non oud versions] are "granny like.". My favorite puck is Love by Soap Commander. ASB is the best. It has none of that granny on it. It is a true rose garden version.

Today I used TOBS cream - and it performs fine. It does have a smidgen of granny rose on it, but I am determined to use it till done. Jo Malone Red Roses EDT / BALM is in the same musky - rose family as TOBS.

"Granny Rose" is the best term I've heard when evaluating Rose soaps.

I put on a glorious shave yesterday morning but didn't have time to post it because my son wanted to go fish the South Fork of the Snake River.  I hurried and tucked in some loose ends at work and we were on the water at about 12:30.  It's too seldom I get time with my eldest son so as much as I like working, today was no contest.  He climbed into the braces in the front of the boat and flipped flies in a snowstorm while his old dad rowed.  Bald Eagles, Mergansers, mallards, cranes, a coyote, and some deer.  We caught no fish but this trip wasn't about the fishing.  Oh, and my shave? MDC Vetyver.

Consistency is great except when what is constant is stupidity.  This mornings shave was the now defunct Reef Point Soaps Aviator, a soap that has always treated me great.  The scent is “new leather jacket” and very pleasant.  My last several shaves have been with MDC or softer soaps and I did not spend enough time loading enough product to generate enough protection and slickness to keep that brand new Personna Med Preps edge from heating up my skin.  I could have gone back to the tub and picks up more soap but decided to continue to see if slickness built in successive passes.  It really didn't and my shave was less comfortable than it could have been.  My fault.  Luckily I have a leathern face so no real issue post shave.  Sure looked forward to the Shea this morning though.
