Rose v. (Martin de Candre)
dry rose
With each shave the aroma of the rose oil becomes richer. I suspect it will continue to deepen and grow more complex, but it will never be a sweet luscious rose like Eufros'
Rosa Bourbon. Still, that may be all for the good. Martin de Candre's milder
Rose is an everyday fragrance, one that will satisfy when the weather is cool but won't overwhelm when the sun is blazing. And that comes as a relief since I intend to lather this jar right through the hot months. Some saponiphiles smell a touch of benzoin mingled with the rose. When I sniff the puck, what I pick up isn't gummy resin, it's straight-up rubber. Thankfully it doesn't last in the lather very long.
