Every single one of them had a foofy sweet floral tone (Yankee Candle is a great description, thanks Steve)...even the ones that were supposed to be woodsy, outdoorsy, resinous, and/or masculine. Was really disappointed, given all the years of superlative reviews on her scents. Ymmv(11-13-2019, 10:48 PM)Lipripper660 Wrote:My tub of Poggio dei Pini dates from September 2016. It smells a little like MW's Viola di Bosco, but with a dose of pine. Good scent, but still pretty flowery. If it were the dry pine you got, I'd be lathering this puck more than once a year.Bouki Wrote:Poggio dei Pini t. (Mystic Water) pine & flowersVery interesting! I love Poggio dei Pini but my puck is dry. Like hot sunshine dry. Pine and herbaceous with very little floral. Love it. Don't know what I'd think if it had a sweet floral scent. Wonder if she changed it up? My puck is two years old.
Today’s scent, Poggio dei Pini, is a very floral interpretation of pine. I’ve had it for years and it still smells quite flowery. Noble Otter’s Trail does a better coniferous floral, but it’s hard to beat a MW finish.
Caties Bubbles is a favorite maker of mine and today was a new one to me. Glacé Herbe is a simple mix of vetiver and menthol and although I love the shave, the menthol "mintiness" detracted from what this vetiver lover would have surely enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, the scent is fine, but not as awesome as I find most of Mr. Cullen's offerings. (Pement de la Vie, La Terre Verte, Un Jor Gries are awesomeness). This one plays more along the lines of a eucalyptus or tea tree oil scheme where it seems more "spa" than "night out". Excellent Performance and post. Menthol is about the level of an Aqua Velva. Refreshing and not freezing.
