Finally off the road and back to the good stuff. I was excited to get back to M&M Ouroboros. Soft like unto a cream I'm still learning how to use it. This soap seems to have a wide range of water acceptance but a fairly narrow range of water/performance requirements. What I mean is I can make really shiny lather across a wide range but it seems that continuing to add water after "sheen" is achieved hinders slickness and post. I suspect that where additional water "breaks" other soaps, this offering actually doesn't visually show the break. The scent is mysterious and awesome. Scent strength is about 7 of 10 and the scent lingers long after my shave. I'll look forward to seeing how long my interest lasts in this soap.

Brilliant suggestion, Lipripper660! (Didn't even know such a thing as a chill mill existed until your reply.)

I really like the Omega croap. It lathers nice, gives great cushion, and it contains propylene glycol. That seems to give me an especially plump finish. It's starting to be one of my favorite ingredients, and I'm sifting through a stack of other Italian soaps looking for ones that include it.

Incienso t. (Eufros) frankincense

I’m still vacillating between a wet brush and a dry brush when making my lathers. With soft soaps, the drenched boar makes an excellent lather. But when I’m loading from a stiff tallow puck like Incienso, a drier synthetic brush scoops up the soap so much better. For today’s shave, the first two passes were attempted with a wet boar: soupy lather and poor cushion was the result. The final pass, though, was made with a reloaded dry brush. It yielded the welcome lather of yore, that thick luscious emulsion that has made Eufros a perennial favorite with many shavers. The upshot: for me damp synthetic brushes work best with dense tallow soaps, wet boar brushes with soft vegan soaps, and beautiful badger brushes ... well, they just look cool up on the shelf. Can’t say I really pull them down that often any more.

My first go at a Grooming Department offering. This one is Elan. The soap has me totally flummoxed. Everybody knows I love a juniper scent so I was really looking forward to this one and who knows, perhaps,it'll grow on me. The scent strength is about 6/10 which is plenty adequate. Off the puck I get juniper berries but none of the citrus stated to be there. All the better because I wouldn't like a scent of eating oranges while riding through the trees. Where this soap confuses me is upon lathering I get not only the juniper berries but it opens up to reveal wood and cardamom and my nose doesn't care for the mix. Then I get confused further when post shave reveals yet another scent of juniper which I really enjoy but it's so light as to be unnoticeable unless I cup my hands aroun my shnozz which is getting a bit weird even for a shaving soap collector. If Mo made a EDT and THAT scent was the dry down I'd buy a gallon. So the lather was protective and slick enough and it offered a good shave. Post shave was a disappointment for me. Dry and tight like a drum skin. I always go 3O minutes post shave before adding Shea butter on a new soap and usually things relax and are back to normal by then. This one was still getting tighter. A dab of Shea had me smiling again. Hey, I have no idea why my experience with this soap is so vastly different than seemingly purported public opinion. I'll give her a go or two and see what's up. Some soaps are dear because of the scent and some I like because of the mental trip they take me on. This one thus far is not my oyster but again I seem to be the outlier.
