I have owned this for years and I have no problems at all. I made an enormous amount of lather yesterday. I soak my brush in distilled water and use distilled water to wet my face. I actually think it is easier to lather than DR Harris.Yes, there was that rumor going around that this lathered as well as GFT soaps.
Not sure if there are multiple formulations or not.
I assume GFT is Geo. F. Trumper, another tippled milled soap. Most of the hard soaps from Great Britain are tippled milled. In addition, from what I have learned that most if not all of these soaps are made in a third party factory and not the company that markets them. Another one that has a bad reputation is Mitchels Wool Fat; another soap I have not had trouble getting a great lather.
It "suds" though

I find the cream more astringent on the nose... and the soap more floral-soapy, and definitely more subtle.
I don't think they used the same exact fragrance for both.
Ballenclaugh Soaps Cherries in the Chamber
The scent from the dry soap is (wait for it…) cherry-forward. When lathered, there is an addition of something just slightly medicinal to my nose, not sure what it might be. I know Ballenclaugh is capable of great lathers — I used too little this time. Not sure why I would do that, when I have enough soap to build a monument out of.
Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

If you are talking about the green cream called "GFT" I used a sample of it several years ago and had no problems.

I'm referring to Trumper soaps, any scent (... not their creams, which do lather with no problems).
Their soaps are barely good for the shower.

Speick and Williams mix... The scents go pretty well together.
Speick is a very plant forward scent, with a strong dose of pepper. The Williams is citronella bug spray, all the way. Together they almost make a camping trip... Just need some campire added in to complete the picture (though that would certainly drown the rest out). Lol.
Honestly though... I hadn't yet tried Williams except for a demo lather. It was well hydrated after being rinsed from my arm. Since I thought I remembered the Speick being drying (and now that I am sitting post shave, maybe stinging?), Figured they might work together.
Whatever it was, I felt like I was onto something with this combo. I shaved with a Karve C plate (which is up there in agression for me) and didn't even notice. A smooth comfortable, easy shave.
However, If this post shave feel keeps up, they'll work together in the garbage bin. Lol.
