Cypress & Vetyver (Proraso) ★★★★

Sometimes the best soaps are those that give you a great shave even when you've put your razor down only a dozen hours before. Skipping a day or two between shearings always results in a fabulous shave, but cutting the interval short can lead to a rough ride and hot, bothered skin. This Proraso is so slick it lets me get close to low growing stubble without doing the epidermis any damage. And it smells great, nice woody grassy, just as the name suggests. I only wish Proraso would serve this soap in something that didn't look like an enema bag.

Gingers Garden Z14 soap and cream

GG is under the radar - performs well for me. Yogurt like, dense, creamy, shiny and very slick. Nice post shave. Great scent selection and post shave products. I like having her stuff in the rotation!

Chelsea's Arabian Nights

This one is hard to describe... It's quite spicy off the puck, with a tinge of smokiness and the underlying soapy smell. When I whipped up a lather, it mellowed a bit. A little bit of sweetness occasionally peeks its head out. This soapy smell is much more prominent when it is rinsed, taking the forefront. I feel like I'm left with a slightly spicy laundry soap smell. Not horrible, just odd.

This glycerin soap lathers easily (9/10)... give so-so protection (6/10), but leaves me with above average post shave feel (8/10)... My skin feels much more hydrated than with a lot of soaps I have tried. It's also cheap... Less than a bowl of Proraso (albeit you have to provide your own container, so it's probably evenly priced?). Certainly worth the money for what I got.

Next time, though, I'll try a less obscure named scent (eyeing Ginger Patchouli now). [Image: 8a031d38a4644a73d2b3a5966fe9098c.jpg]

I always enjoy a nice pipe tobacco scent, and when mated with a soap and balm that perform very well, it’s all a treat for the senses.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”
