Contemplation t. (Declaration Grooming Icarus) green floral
DG's Icarus is a triple-tallow soap that's drier and stiffer than their older bases. No matter how much water you add, it doesn't foam up. Instead, you get a slick lotion-like emulsion that performs very well. It's fat and glossy and the finish is rich.
The tallowy scent off the puck may give you pause. It's not a strong aroma, but it reminded me of deep-fried shrimp chips. The lather, thankfully, takes off in a different direction. Stir in lots of water and fresh green notes accompanied by light citrus well up. They're followed by mild, sweet florals. When the lather's fully formed Contemplation is clean and calm (but it's still haunted by the ghost of a crustacean side note).
