Bouki, LASSCo soaps have been reformulated and are now made by Ron of Chiseled Face. You would've had a different experience if you tried the old stuff. IMO, it wasn't a very good soap. It's good to know that this new formula performs well and you enjoyed the shave. I find the color odd because the old Topanga Fougere was the typical off-white that you see in a lot of soaps.

wyze0ne: Thanks for the info! I was wondering why I hadn't heard much about Lassco's soaps in the past. Now that you've mentioned Chiseled Face, I can see the similarity. The lathers are almost identical. Topanga Fougère's red color comes from the inclusion of French Red Clay. Like kaolin, it's supposed to improve the soap's slip.

CRSW Tropicos, followed up by B&M Rhapsody splash. Seemed appropriate since the weather is back up in the mid-80's here today!

Irish Fern v. (Wickham Soap Co. 1912) woody fougère

It's called Irish Fern but really it smells like the original Irish Spring bath soap, right down to the woody side note. It's clean and classic, but it's also a sort of been-there-done-that scent, more nostalgic than visionary. Try it next time you start your day with "More than a Feeling."
