Lavender (DR Harris & Co.)
tinny lavender
The lather's good, but the scent's just ho hum. Lavender plays really well with other notes like cedar or citrus or herbs. In fact, it's just an all around good neighbor. On its own it's not bad, either. So you'd think if you were doing a lavender soliflore, you'd get the best smelling lavender you could find, something that smells plump and purple. Unfortunately, that's not what's going on in this soap. This lavender is washed out and metallic. As far as my nose was concerned, today's first pass was dismal. Not that there was anything wrong with the suds, but the scent put my fillings on edge. Luckily, a spritz of Eau de L'Occitan – a smooth, peppery lavender – saved the second pass.
