Fjellheim (Fitjar Islands) pine & juniper
Fjellheim is Norwegian for ‘mountain home’, and a sniff of this puck will take you deep into a boreal forest and make you yearn to pick up your axe. It’s a bright, tart evergreen scent without a speck of dirt in it. As the label says, it smells “as if you rolled in the juniper bushes on you way over the mountain.” Thankfully, there’s no oily reek of turpentine, just a pure, mostly pine scented soap that’s nice on the face, washes off clean, and leaves your skin smooth. It gave me an excellent shave.
Jorunn, the artisan, has paired her clean scent with an elegant package, a white lid on a frosted base graced with simple, clear typography. In fact, her tubs look very similar to Cold River’s new design. Judging from looks alone, Fjellheim and CRSW’s Juniper could be fraternal twins. The scents aren’t far apart, either. Though their formulations are quite different, their performance is nearly the same. The most pronounced difference is that Fjellheim finishes light and clean, while Juniper’s heavier lather deeply moisturizes your skin.
