Cologne-Fougère (Le Père Lucien) lavender, rosemary/mint, hay, bergamot, green tobacco
(Day 4) — Rosemary and mint come from the same family, and when they’re blended in a soap, it’s hard for me to tell their scents apart. While it’s true that rosemary has a camphorous smell that usually makes it easy to pick out, nearly all fougères include lavender, which is also graced with a note of camphor. So, when lavender is present, it’s a toss up whether I’m smelling mint or rosemary, or both. What’s certain is that Cologne-Fougère smells very good. It’s green, a little citrusy, and ends on a sweet note that reminds me of new tobacco leaf – altogether interesting enough to use every day, and still mild enough not to become sappy.
