A sample of Eufros Premium Rosa Bourbon shaving soap. Of the 6 six samples sent to me by a generous friend, this is probably my favorite. It has a great fragrance of sweet rose and makes very good lather. For me the major strength of these soaps is their fragrances, all of which are wonderful. Their lathers, while ranging from very good to excellent, don't quite match up to those of my vintage English tallow soaps.

Cologne-Fougère (Le Père Lucien) lavender, rosemary, hay, bergamot

Day 3 — Cologne-Fougère is a fairly soft soap. A minute’s loading is probably more than is needed. Granted, a good brush, stiff with this soap, makes a superb lather – slick, fragrant, and very kind to the skin – but I’m chewing through this 3.4 oz tub like a rat through sugar cane. I’ll be happy to get thirty shaves out of it. That would bring the cost of each use to about fifty cents, making Le Père Lucien one of my more expensive soaps.

Often, when loading a soap, I’ll think to myself: “That should do it.”
Then, after the shave, I’ll look at all the soaps on my shelf and think: “I should’ve loaded even more!”

First world problems that we are truly lucky to have.
