What's the deal with Haslinger?

Sheep wins in my book. But I get my sheep tallow and lanolin from Stirling. I was going to say wait till Bruce sees this thread and he will post, but I see he already did.

I havent used any. If I had some I would use it and see how it performs. I see no reason why it wouldnt perform well...but, that would mean I have to take a break from B&M or CB. Stirling is always there for me to take up any slack. I just dont want to break from my well formed routine.

Grim - I am pretty particular about slickness in soaps because one of my go to razors is the Blackbird and I find that if I the soap is not very slick, I get some drag on the razor head, which then causes me to adjust my pressure/angle to compensate. Not a big deal, but I do notice it. I've not had to make that adjustment using Haslinger, so I feel confident that (at least to me) I can get it pretty darned slick. Now, I have not had to rely on residual slickness for touch ups and such because I tend to make more lather than I'll use (in hopes, partly, that can use up more product so I can buy more product ). If that us what you mean, then I can't speak to that, altho it sure seems plenty slick to me for touch ups as I rinse the soap of my face at the end.

For me, it's the best cheap hard soap out there.

Performs for me on par with MWF, Tabac & DR Harris.

I still prefer the Savonniere du Moulin ASS Donkey soaps, Panacreama Nuavia, Klar Seifen, Saponifioc Varesino and Le Pere Lucien soaps, but Haslinger is up there, and for the price, it's hard to beat.

That said where are you getting them for 4.50 other then that European store that then takes so long to ship.

TVB Shaving, but you have to max out the lowest tier shipping. So it means ordering 8-9 pucks (I forget).

I tried their coconut and sage. The coconut smelled like a diaper and the sage smelled like a soapy diaper. I am happy for those that like this soap, but I just cant get past the scent.

Haven't tried it. Don't really want 8 or 9 just to get the lowest price per unit, but it's good to know it's an option.

I'm not saying I wouldn't try a puck if they were available somewhere I normally buy from. Seems like a good add on to reach a free shipping tier or just for the heck of it if I'm already placing an order.

I'm interested in other soaps that I'd like to try first.

With summer around the corner, I will be using soaps I find drier post shave. So if and when I ever pick up some Haslinger it most likely won't be until Fall or Winter. I don't need lanolin most of the time, and really don't like it when it's hot out. Veggie soaps work better with my skin in the warmer months.

Once dialled in it is excellent. Very much like tabac in lather. It is very thirsty though which can be often trick you in thinking it's slick when it's not.

I agree about the price part---It is a decent soap but there are a lot of better products out there,they just cost more.

What is the considered opinion on Haslinger? I read this review http://damnfineshave.com/thread-review-h...=haslinger,  Haslinger is getting a lot of play around the Internet but little here. Is this just the fad of the year?

I don't think it is getting more talk then any other soap, just a few more people have discovered it and are singing it's praises.

I've seen far more talk of other soaps on all forums. A bunch of people in the B&B 3017 thread and "year of one product" are using Haslinger, outside that I don't see it over talked about. A few members have seen long time members talk and discuss it, so have bought it and started threads on it. Either asking what all the fuss is about or echoing the praises.

The lack of talk here is strictly a numbers game. Less members, less threads, less discussion. Many people discuss soaps that have artisans attached to those forums. DFS is no different.
