The much maligned Pinaud Clubman Lilac Vegetal.  First time user because I wanted to see what all the hubbub was about.  Years back, The Veg took a lot of shade on the forums.  Comments ranged from cat piss to rotten trash and hate and foment for the Veg ruled the day.  Scared?  You bet I was.  Who wants to smell like a litter box that has been living in the bottom of Grandmas unmentionables drawer?  Not me!  Shoot, not me!  My masculinity couldn’t handle the gut-punch.  Of late though, at the behest of my daughter,  I’ve been writing my stories down.  In doing so I’ve been dragged back into a time when choices had no consequences, I was ten feet tall, and bullet proof!  When I saw Lilac Vegetal offered in a 50ml bottle I had just enough “man” in me to give it a go.  As my dad was fond of saying “I’m not responsible for what others may think”, so in the cart it went.  It arrived yesterday and to tell the truth I had to put a drop of Tabasco in my right eye to prove I had the courage to crack the seal on the Veg.  I was blinking back tears as I twisted the cap off and brought the bottle to my nose for a sniff.  Steeling my resolve I prepared to be assaulted by the scent of ten dead horses (some of you will understand).  Sniff…….sniff sniff……say, this isn’t bad!  Drop on my wrist and a wave through the air and sniff…sniff and surprise hit me.  This concoction was not as offensive as clearing a plug from a sewer main at all.  Shoot, it was pleasant.  And that’s when I realized y’all are daft!  I’m not going to listen to another thing you have to say.  Shoot, you have me wondering now if the Blackbird really is a quality razor or if Sandalwood scent is pleasant.  I sit here right now smelling like lilacs softened by musk and I’m not afraid at all.  Will my wife like it?  Shoot no she won’t but she likes Drakkar so I don’t believe her much anyway.  Gents, I like the Veg and if you have a problem with that well then you can just fight me.

SOTD

Razor: Copper Ascension
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Paladin Chief 26mm
Soap: Hags Hell Fire Club
After-Shave: Hell Fire Splash

My first time using Hags and it's a great base. Easy to load and dense slick lather. The scent is a homage to Dior Sauvage. The scent is strong in a good way. This is going to be a staple in my Den. The brush was softer and easier to load today. Not sure if it was breaking in or the soap.

Head Shave

Razor: Copper Ascension
Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Paladin Cheif 26mm
Soap: Talbot Winter Refraction
After-Shave: Alum & Winter Refraction Splash

Another first time using Talbot and this scent. Wow, this base is slick and the scent just gets better with time. I bought this set used and unfortunately, the soap started out as only 3oz and I'm not sure how many shaves I can get out of it. I can't seem to find the soap anywhere (maybe it's not out yet for this year) but I have found the splash online the bottle of splash is almost full so I'm good there. I like the scent enough to buy another puck once I find it.
