Traditional Kamisori Honing?

So...I won a traditional Kamisori from the facebook honing group. I have never tried to hone anything asymmetrical before, save for some cheap kitchen knives that were single bevel. This is different...it isn;t a single bevel, it is just an asymmetrical bevel. Beveled and ground on both sides, just to different degrees.

Which means I have no clue how to hone it properly...

So any input anyone might have as to what techniques I should try, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Set the bevel and correct the grind on the unstamped side primarily, after the edge meets cleanly, you can proceed by doing 3 to 8 or so passes on the unstamped side to every 1 pass on the stamped side to polish the rough scratches away.

At the very end (finishing stone) I do 1 to 1 strokes but that is just me.ymmv.

The gentleman I won this razor from has a solid reputation for his Kamisori work, and a few other members of the group raved about his edges, so I'm hoping it comes at least bevel set, if not truly shave ready.

As far as I can tell from the photos of it he shared, it looks to be cleanly set and ready to go, but looks can be deceiving...

It definitely makes sense. It also makes me feel better because it is what I was thinking, so it's nice to know I was at least looking in the right direction.

I'm excited about learning yet another type of razor and honing technique. Always moving forward and learning new things!

For what it's worth, I stick to a ratio of 2 to 1. (on  some maybe 3 to 1 but not that often)
Except for bevel setting, I honestly don't count that much
I do it a little different.
1 full stroke on the omote side
1/2 stroke ura side.
So my honing pattern is the same as any other razor, I'm just going 1full, 1/2 half, 1full, 1/2 half, etc...
