I emailed them over a week ago about it and never heard back, I just bought a Stainless Steel Timeless instead.

Personally, I think not hearing back is likely a good sign, I see it as their seriously looking at a polished titanium, the guys at Timeless always respond within 24hrs... always. They may want to judge the polishing process and if they can do it before responding to emails having asked about it.

Grade 2 Titanium is harder than stainless steel by quite a bit. That would make final finishing especially more difficult as carbold indicated, and more expensive than people may want to pay. The benefit I'd guess would be that the polished surface would be more resistant to scratching than SS. Also, the stand is made from grade 5 Titanium. When polished, I think the stand and the razor wouldn't match so well. I think they use two different grades for ease of manufacturing. Grade 2 is considered pure titanium while grade 5 is an alloy. I think if they were to sell a polished version they would have to change the material for either the razor or the stand. That might be a pretty big deal.

This titanium is a bit trickier to polish than SS, because you get some really fine swirl marks which you need to remove with a very fine polishing compound. I tried a number of options, and eventually found that the last stage has to be done with Menzerna P175 Yellow compound and a leaf buffing wheel. This combination with a dremel gave the best final polish, with no swirl marks. Hope this helps....

Hi! I don't mean to revive an old thread but I am purchasing the Timeless Ti soon and came across your photos on this thread. It looks incredible. I was going to send you a PM but for some reason I was not able. I was wondering if you would be willing to polish the head for me if I paid you via paypal? I mostly read posts here, but I am quite active on Badger and Blade if you want to check my profile for legitimacy (username is mousecop). If it sounds like something you'd be interested in and willing to do, just let me know Smile

Oh sorry it’s a long tedious job, especially titanium....I can tell you step by step what I did but I can’t put myself through that again

You may head off a bunch of requests for the info if you posted it in this thread...  I know I'd love to have the info in case I was ever bored (and crazy) enough to do it myself.

Thanks!

Hi! I am actually sending my razor to someone for polishing Smile. Just had a quick question. I can't tell from your pictures if you polished the top of the baseplate (the part that the underside of the cap rests on). Did you polish the top or leave it so as not to affect tolerances? Thanks!

I just gave it a quick polish, with very fine polishing paste, and didn’t use any sand paper on it. Same for the underside of the top cap

I know I'm being a pain haha. If you remember, would you be able to list the products and steps you used to polish the titanium? I know titanium is much harder to polish than SS so I just want to know I'm doing it right if I end up doing it myself. I think others are curious as well. Thanks!
