My final thoughts are that this base plate is slightly less efficient than the original 0.95 SB but just as smooth. Blade feel is minimal to me. I think this is a great option for those who don't like the bulky original plates, and don't mind sacrificing a tad of efficacy in order to have a slimmer head.
I'm tempted to keep mine but it's too similar to the original to justify doing so, and I really don't mind a bulky head.

Aren't the Slim heads stated to have a 0.5mm gap? I don't believe they have the same gap as the .95

That's correct. The SLIM does however have greater exposure.

Initially I also thought that the SLIM plate had greater exposure. But, according to their website, both the SLIM and the classic .95 plate have the same blade exposure, ie 0.05 mm or 0.002”.
I emailed Timeless and they confirmed that info was correct, so I guess the fact the SLIM has more blade feel and is allegedly more aggressive (though not for everyone, as it turns out from comments above...) is due to the overall geometry and the angle at which the blade is clamped, ie the angle is less with this versus the original plate.

I think he was referring to the fact that you called it “the 0.95 SB Ti SLIM”. There is no such razor. The SLIM only comes in 0.50 as of now.

Oops, made the correction. thanks!

That makes sense

That could be the case. The specs on the Karve D plate and the Tatara Nodachi are similar, but the Nodachi has a decent amount of blade feel compared to almost no blade feel with the Karve. I guess that’s why some companies don’t post the gap or exposure of their razors. They don’t always mean the same thing because of other factors.

Thanks. Is there anything special about Derlin material vs. a regular nylon washer?

Big difference. Delrin offers more abrasion, fatigue and friction resistance. It's stronger and will last you way longer with less wear and tear compared to those nylon or plastic washers. It also does way better at tightening your handle shut and it doesn't flatten or squish down like a nylon/plastic washer.

Great to know. Thanks Max.

The width of the slim baseplate is narrower than the .68 or .95 which would certainly affect the shave.

Whisk-her Away & shaveSymptomatic , well, just had a friend in England reiterate the same impressions both of you expressed regarding the Slim. He has the SS SB version, and he ,also, found it to have much less blade feel and less efficiency than the Blackbird. Looks like his thoughts confirm your original comments, which is quite interesting.
