You have to set the knot at the loft the device is made for. Also different makes of knots may need different depth to seat them properly.
Just my $0.02

The upcoming Hone brush addresses the loft part. You're stuck with a 24mm knot though...
I think these folks are onto something. Not everyone, especially the diehard hobbyist, will want one. Yet, I can see the market for them. Guess we'll have to see how it all plays out in time.

Shavemac had an adjustable loft brush many years ago. If it was a winner, they still would make it.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. I suppose we'll have to wait to see if these brush handles catch on or flop. I like the concept, but like someone else mentioned, I'd probably just end up leaving one knot in all the time. I'm that way with adjustable razors...set it and forget it.

That Hone brush is a cool idea, but the fact that it's limited to 24mm is a non-starter for me. The handle looks tiny as well.

Agree with all of the above. Cool idea, love the creativity. But it's definitely not something that will appeal to hobbyists. Half the fun is in collecting amazing handles. The loft thing is also going to be a sticking point for hobbyists, but average joes probably won't care much. That leaves the main issue being the subtle differences in the glue plug heights.

The Model T did not address many issues either.  It was available only in black, and early models had to be crank started, just to name two issues among many.    Yet the Model T was still the start of something big, as evidenced by the facts that the Model T was voted "the world's most influential car of the 20th century", and that after a century, "Model T" is still a household name.

I mention the Model T analogy because focusing on what the current Timeless offering can't do distracts from what it can do and from what the concept - whether from Timeless, Hone, or another competitor - might become.  As a hobbyist, I would would want at least one quick change handle.  For me, at least, "quick change" are keywords intended to be shorthand for "quick change and non-destructive to knot and handle".   I would use a handle like that to test for ideal loft, perhaps by inserting rubber washers under the knot.  (Granted the response to loft can differ somewhat in different handles.)  I would also use such a handle to screen shedders and duds before glueing bad knots into "traditional" handles.   In fact, with handles that supported quick and risk free changes, I might well change handle/knot combinations more frequently.  And that, in turn, means I might collect quick change handles.  Perhaps I would use different shapes for bowl vs face lathering with the same knot, or different finishes with the same knot for the photos that some hobbyists meticulously compose, or different handle weights for high and low backbone knots.

How close the current Timeless handle comes to a more ideal offering is a legitimate open question IMO.  I also feel that the lack of published socket depths is a significant omission, as is the lack of guidance concerning the useability of spacers.  FWIW I plan to inquire and report back, although it may take some time.  Hopefully anyone out there who has answers to these questions will feel free to beat me to the punch.

As Geezer pointed out, it's not particularly "adjustable". A twist/click handle that raised/lowered the brush according to personal preferences would be interesting...maybe.

More backbone for the lather bowl, relaxed backbone for face application.  I like it.
