Time To Rant: B&B

Every shaving site I have been on, including DFS, (and I suspect other special interest sites, as well) is, sadly, going to have some discord that turns nasty.  If that never happened then there would be no need for moderators.  What we hope to do here is be a bit freer with our rules while still permitting an open and friendly atmosphere.  So far, for the most part, I believe we are succeeding.  However, the bulk of a positive atmosphere comes down to the civility of its members.  Again, for the most part, Damn Fine Shave has proven fortunate when it comes to that.

Oh, I'm sure we will get a few (more) Big Shots coming through all full of swagger and attitude. It's bound to happen...

as long as the PMs are not encrypted/hashed in the database (which they're not for mybb), anyone who has access to the database can read PMs if they wanted to.  me, personally..I have wayyyyyyyy better things to do than read PMs between forum users that do not involve me from the database.

Yes but how do you know if the PM is about you or not unless you have already perused said PM?

if it's not in my PM inbox, then I don't let it concern me.

Fortunately I have a few Jabonman/Eufros samples that were generously gifted to me . I'll be using one tomorrow I think.

Chris, let's not concern ourselves with that unless or until it happens. Besides, swagger and attitude get old and boring in a hurry, as far as I'm concerned.

@"Schrittmacher" I'd like to review Jabonman/Eufros in detail at some point on the luxury soaps/creams thread. If I remember to do so (a 50/50 shot with my terrible memory lol), I'll tag you so you are notified when it comes up .

EDIT: I should add that this soap was very helpfully recommended to me by a few members who participated in an earlier iteration of that thread. Turns out that I happen to really enjoy it.

I also get it that if a site is "owned" by a grand master wizard behind the curtain, he can delve into any part of the site he owns. It still feels awkward though to have a guy stare at you in the shower room when you thought you had a greater amount of privacy. Just because he owns the gym.

Just to be clear, no one here is going to stare at you in the shower room.  Though I am a bit unnerved that this is the analogy you chose.  

I chose that analogy 'cuz its soooo creepy! You believe you have some semblance of privacy and you look over and see this---eyeball to eyeball with you.




My biggest beef from the big site though is how they treated Rod, after he donated piles of soap to their auction and spent time talking to users, they claimed he was PMing their users (spamming/advertising) through their PM system. They made these claims repeatedly over the day and stopped short of posting the proof they said they had. Then they deleted the thread after so many of his customers started to bash the mods,their site, and their said tactics. They deleted their own thread for CYA and began changing titles etc like I mentioned in another post. I agree with Andrew, I wouldnt have time or could care less what was being sent through the PM system. But, for a bunch of overworked, never thanked, never paid mods, they found the time to dig through a soapers PM box to look for something that fit their agenda. But then some guy with a Jolly Roger avatar had the gall to create a site where people can DISCUSS things on a discussion forum without the fear of imminent decapitation. And then I felt better.

Honestly, this thread is getting old. The OP stated he wanted the B&B bashing to stop and he removed his own thread to make that happen. And here we are again. This forum isn't here to bash other sites. Closing this thread.
