What in heaven's name is 3017. For that matter, I don't know what 86 means, though that seems to have died.

3017 is a method of using up soaps (and other products now), that originated on B&B by a member (Bob aka johnniegold) years ago. The phrase caught on and is widely used by members who use the same approach of NOT rotating products. I've been 3017ing for a few years now.

Open up a soap and use it until it's done. It started with a thread where he expected to be done his soap stash by the year 2017. The Mods had some fun and thought it would more likely be the year 3017, changed the title and it stuck. Turns out it wasn't the year 3017 and he did I'm fact use up all his soap without buying more and is now on a puck to puck basis.

Thanks for the reply, @Bruce.  Why not just say, "open a soap and use it until it's gone?"  Everyone can understand that.  No guesswork involved.

I might be wrong but when I tried to read that use of the phrase, I also thought it meant, USE it up. It's just soap, not liquid gold. Load Heavy, load Often, and use it - hence my words of "Use it like you Stole it"

Andrew, as I recall when we were over at TSN, the owner of that site said he had to quit because he had other commitments.  I don't know whether or not he ever restarted it, though it is an excellent concept.

I wish somebody would make a Keurig lather machine with individual lather cups.
