There and Back Again, A Wet-Shaver's Tale

Still pretty new around here, but a journal is a must for me in an forum I'm a part of, so here we go with the first post.

3/27/21 SOTD
Razor: Robeson New Science Concave
Brush: Switchback 400 w/Gelousy fan
Soap: B&M Hallows
Aftershave: B&M Hallows
EDP: B&M Hallows

Grabbed a new to me razor from a brand that was recommended by Fluffy. It looked good in the online pics when I pulled the trigger on it and it polished up easily, but there was pitting right on the edge that was only visible with the loupe. Honing this guy ended up being a personal challenge that took a few different sessions on the bevel set. Finally got that done last night, and was impatient enough to run it through a quick synthetic/lapping film progression instead of my preferred Jnat.

It feels more like fall than spring outside, so Hallows was called up. This is one of those scents that people seem to either love or hate with little to no middle ground. I happen to love it, so if you hate it you might want to stay out of Michigan for a while, since I go heavy on the aftershave and it is some potent stuff.

The edge on the razor was good, but not great. Got a three pass DFS out of it, but since it's a day off this shave was more about the scent than the hair removal. A hefty glug of aftershave and a couple sprays of EDP and I was ready to head out and clear a room or two.

This is true, and it is a beautiful razor. I love the bellied grinds with the clearly delineated line.

Thanks Dave! That brush turned out so much better than I thought it would from looking at the blank lol. I have a couple more blanks that were the result of tossing leftover resin into a piece of PVC, but none have been turned yet and that one will always be my favorite.

Tossed a couple more razors on the stones tonight. One had some wonky geometry on one side, but both are passing the HHT nicely and will be on deck for shaves this week.

I thought for sure I would change the white knot out but it has actually softened and it fits the clown theme so it has remained so far

It is a cool looking knot, and I'm glad it softened up. It was pretty bristly compared to current synthetics.

Fantastic 3 pass+clean up BBS with the one of the razors I put an edge on last night. LNHC products are just top notch and the post shave elixir is among the best post shaves I've ever used. A couple sprays of Halfeti capped everything off beautifully and I skipped out of the shave den in a great mood.





One more week of midnights before I can go back to day shift. I can't wait. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Razor: Parker Adjustable Injector
Blade: Taconic
Brush: PAA Switchback w/ Gelousy fan
Soap: SV 70th Anniversary
Aftershave: SV 70th Anniversary
EDP: Mancera Cedrat Boise

 I finally got a shave in with the Parker injectah lol. It has been a long time since I used my Schick Injector so I can't accurately compare them, but this is an incredibly mild shaver. I started at 1, and moved up to 3 on the first pass while changing the head angle a few times to see how it felt. 4 was the number on pass 2, and I went all the way up to 5 on pass 3. Even at it's highest setting this is a mild razor, and I almost felt like I wouldn't be able to nick myself with it. I actually found that the best way to get my trouble spots was to have the top flush with my skin, tilt it forward the tiniest bit, and add some pressure. That netted me a BBS with three passes and some clean up, though I did manage a small nick on my neck. All in all it was a good shave and the Parker Injector is one that I could see adding into the rotation.
