I do an incredible amount of business with USPS and their service is exemplary for my outgoing mail. I've had problems with incoming though. I tell folks to insure things that they send me and I'll pay the increased expense. We've had 2 checks disappear and one custom brush... all incoming. But frankly for the amount of items sent that really isn't much loss, frustrating yes, but the rate of loss is low.

I had my first USPS lost shipment last week. My rate of shipment accuracy has fallen to 99.99% (or so).

Stay Tuned ...

All the USPS people I interact with are fine, but estimated delivery dates are unreliable, and tracking updates are delayed, sometimes inaccurate, and sometimes few and far between.  At the moment, I have a priority mail package that was accepted in Georgia on Monday and estimated to arrive here in Virginia today (Wednesday).   Everything looked fine when it arrived early yesterday evening in Richmond, one hour's drive from me.  But I knew something was up today when tracking did not show "Arrived at Post Office" or "Out for Delivery".  This evening, I found out why - that is, if USPS tracking is to be believed.

You have to read the tracking from the bottom up.

Really?  Georgia ==> Texas ==> Virginia ==> back to Texas?  What's next?

Wow! Eighteen (18) minutes from Houston, Texas to Richmond, Virginia.  That's fast!

Arrives in Houston, Texas en route to Virginia.  Not sure why, but okay.
Strange though, that it never departed the second of the two Altlanta distribution centers.

To me this shows that there must be something wrong with USPS tracking, and possibly with the routing system as well.  FWIW this package contains two very fine brushes, and I have never before gotten two brushes of this caliber in one delivery.  So I am really hoping this story has a happy ending.

Me too. I'll keep an eye out in case it lands in my mailbox.

sometimes USPS tracking can be very peculiar...

And the Winner is ... Me! Smile

So, after two more days and - according to USPS tracking - an extra trip from Virginia to Texas and back, the package showed up today, only two days late, and more importantly, in fine condition.
