And once again the USPS has screwed up. On Monday I dropped an eBay return parcel into the Post Office lobby drop box. As of today, USPS tracking is still showing the parcel as not having been received at the Post Office at all. eBay is sending me messages saying I just have until next Monday the 8th to return the item or else I don't get a refund; and meanwhile, I cannot start a USPS trace on the parcel UNTIL Monday the 8th. So because of USPS incompetence or theft I am losing $35. What idiots. Many years ago I worked in a Post Office, and many of the workers there were dead wood who had found the safe place to live out their lazy lives without ever getting fired; apparently nothing has changed.

You know if you ask you can get a printed receipt that they accepted the package right?

Right, that's another lesson that I learned: always stand in line and get a receipt rather than just trusting them to do it right.

I don’t know about your PO, but the two near me both have a kiosk for drop offs, the attendant there only accepts packages for drop off (you can’t pay for anything), but thy can also print a receipt of acceptance. There is usually no line for that.

My local P.O. just has one counter, with four stations but invariably only one or two clerks working, and there is always a line. And usually the person in front of me in line either does not speak English well and must have everything repeated to them several times before they comprehend or else they are just buying a few stamps and want to look through all of the available choices at the counter before finally deciding which they want.

I always get stuck behind the ones who are shipping internationally and insist on finishing their paperwork at the counter, ughhh

Well, after 4 days of mystery, today the USPS suddenly reported that the parcel I had dropped off is now in transit. It must have been sitting unnoticed in one of their bins.

I have to say that I have not had issues with my post office other than one instance about 3 years ago. And that turned out to be my carrier’s fault. And he was the one to resolve his own mistake. Otherwise I really have no complaints. I agree that you ALWAYS get a receipt. I have learned never to trust anyone. Strangers. Best friends. Family. No one. Ultimately the only one truly looking out for you is.........you.

that's like the staple USPS store - enough counters for 3-4 workers, yet only 1 is working and there's a line out the door..
