Van Yulay Puros La Habana
Gillette Injector / Schick (Shave 1)
Thayers Superhazel with Proraso Green Pre/post Followed with Barrister's Reserve Classic

Used the Gillette Injector for the first time today. Going to have to reconsider reaching for my Injectors more often. The Van Yulay croap is working fantastic. Finished with the recently arrived Barrister's Reserve Classic. Just a Great shave today.

Hello gentlemen (and ladies for that matter). Been away for quite a few months here, but it's nice to see a proper SE thread going, and so robustly, in the meantime! Count me in. I'm almost exclusively using my vintage Schick injectors these days, with the occasional stint with my OneBlade or Wolfman OC. My coarse beard combined with "thin" skin (more prone to nicks and weepers than average, it seems) make SE blades and razors a better fit for me. (The Wolfman is an exception from the DE world, as its design clamps the blade in such a way that there's very little chatter, a virtue that SE blades get from their thicker metal and thus greater rigidity.) Anyway, hello everyone!

I probably would not have tried them but when Doug (DblDe ) sold me the razors I completely forgot that he said he would send me some blades also. So, I was in a big hurry to get some so I could shave right away.  Walgreens here no longer carries them so I ended up at CVS. Do to the warnings in early posts about rust I do take the blade out.  I have a little container with some mineral oil in it and and dip the cutting surface in. Seems to be working but is messy.

Just kind of odd coming from the DE side where there are so many more choices (not necessarily better)and time spent trying to find that blade that works best.

I really need to find some time to dig out some of my other SE's, but it's been busy at work as well as at home. I'm still enjoying SEptember with the two razors I've been using lately, regardless!

SEptember Shave 11

ER Shovelhead with Bakelite handle + CVS Blade (6 or 7)
Razorock Plissoft 24mm Bruce
MWF
T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Clubman (doctored up a little)

Dropped my shaving brush in the sink of water while just lathering up for my last pass. So had just enough soap on my face to do a few touch ups so not as close as the last few nights.  (Drain running a little slow is only reason why it was half full as I use running water to rinse --just a personal hang up -- TMI ??? Smile )  Only second time with the Shovelhead but still doesn't feel as natural as the GEMs. Got some work to do.

Shovel head is pretty dang aggressive. I found it to be too touchy for me, took twice as long to get a good shave from it for me. Good luck!

Just had an ultra smooth and close shave with the Auto Strop Vc1 and a Modified GEM stainless blade. Without a doubt a razor that is in my top 5. It is a beast, but treat it with respect and it will give you an ultra smooth shave.

I hear ya' about coming from the DE side where you have too many choices for both blade and razor. You come over to the SE and with the exception of the OneBlade you are only using vintage. For the GEMs you have carbon or PTFE and for the injectors there only seems to be Personna and Chinese Schick unless you are sourcing NOS blades. The funny thing is I don't feel like I'm missing out. For me its PTFE over carbon and I have yet to figure out which injector blade I like better. My first go with an Injector has been one of those that Nick was selling and I have 10 shaves with the first NOS blade and it still doesn't feel like it need to be changed.
There are also the Japanese Schick blades and Twins as well. I have tried one of the standard ones that came with a razor, it was great

Ok Shave today. Was a little light on the water. Had to wet the brush during the 1st and 2nd passes while applying lather, and found it dried up half way through so I added a bit more water right to the scuttle and whipped it a bit more for the 3rd pass. 3rd Pass went smooth, will continue with this blade and see how it goes. Pretty sure I'm putting Barrister's Reserve to the test.
