Ok, those that have not used this razor on a lower gap and are wanting to sell it may be missing out. Just shaved on setting 4 with a Personna Tungsten 74 and was amazed at how smooth it is! Similar feel to my Rocnel 2019 Elite A or my WR2 1.25. I can already tell that the efficiency on that setting is off the charts as I am feeling my face. I will keep track as to how long my face is stubble free but this thing on a lower setting takes all of the forward blade feel away while keeping that high efficiency! I am pleasantly surprised! I used GD’s new Kairos (version 4.7) base and the shave was just outstanding! It may have been the blade and soap contributing to the smooth shave but I take nothing away from the Sailor.

I’m at 14 hours BBS with no stubble from my shave yesterday on setting #4. Think I have found the perfect setting for me on the Sailor. Might try 5 or 6 once in a while to dial things up a bit but I am extremely pleased with the shave I got yesterday around 4pm.

Can you get 14 hours from a 125?

I ran mine at 4 today and agree, this is probably the sweet spot for me too. Blade feel is significantly reduced and it's very smooth. I am just so used to grabbing an adjustable and going straight to max gap. This razor threw me off because I "wheelhouse" is so low on the dial. Still enjoying playing with this razor.

I get about 12-13 hours with my 1.25. I don’t have a 1.35 or 1.45 but I think you are probably correct with the comparison of setting 4 and a 1.35. This Sailor is a lifetime keeper for me and will be passed down through the generations along with the Taiga and a few others. I absolutely loved the shave on that 4 setting. Might go up one setting next time I use it just to see when the blade feel really kicks in. I suspect around 6 or 7.

Lately I have been getting to know and master my 2019 Sailor. I have been dialing it up slowly and the best shave I have had is on setting 6. I have been using a Personna Tungsten 74 Blade and on its 6th use yesterday, the Sailor was super smooth on that 6 setting. I would caution anyone that has or is getting this razor to really take your time getting to know it. You really have to find the right blade and angle for yourself. I was 17 hours BBS after yesterday’s shave which was amazing. No nicks, cuts or irritation. I have learned to not use any pressure and to use a more neutral angle. This razor is NOT for beginners! This thing is a tank, a beast and a complete work of art! I am really trying to figure out what the blade gaps are by conversing with Murat at Rocnel. He says the increments between each setting are .12 microns but he says the first setting at the beginning dot is .10. For me that doesn’t make sense unless he means 1.10. Is there someone that can measure that first setting and then I can figure it out from there.

I measured the gaps on mine.  It is near impossible to be consistent because the adjustment is 100% fluid, there are no "clicks".  I could be off some but this should be fairly close...at least as close as my unskilled hands and poor eyes can provide.

Rocnel Gap Measurements:

Dot   0     .90
M     1     1.10
-       2     1.20
M+   3     1.30
-       4     1.40
M/A   5    1.55
-        6    1.65
A       7    1.75
-        8    1.90
A+     9    2.05
Dot   10    2.13
