Blame capitalism and the go between first. The story so far does not indicate Yaqi had any arrangements or understandings with Heritage.

As part of the business world, when they do crap things like that, the consumer is the ultimate decider. Never take for granted what a small subset of dissenters can do to a company’s bottom line. That’s also part of business, and one companies would do well to remember in their pursuit of ever increasing profit. It can quickly go awry and throw a wrench into the most profitable of companies.

Yaqi seems not to have had any agreement at all with Heritage, so it doesn't shock me to see them pick up and modify a non patent protected design brought to them. The unnamed go between is another story.

Perhaps. Still, the world is getting smaller and smaller with all the information that gets put out on social media outlets. They knew the deal from the get go. They stepped on someone's idea to bring a razor to fruition. There is no recourse in terms of the legalities or infringements upon a patented idea as Heritage did not want to use the Gibbs name. You're right that the go between is the one that flipped on Heritage. But, either way that it gets sliced, Yaqi knew and they jumped at the opportunity out of sheer greed.

Technically I can blame whomever I please. Consumers aren’t exactly a rational lot at all times. This reminds me of the bs Stirling went through with their disingenuous machine shop outsourcing the work to China when the shop knew the consumer wanted products made solely in the U.S.

Ok, if Yaqi was fully aware bad on them but I'd still like some ire directed at the party with whom Heritage did have agreements.

The Gibbs adjustment mechanism patent dates to 1936, pretty unlikely a patent could have been obtained under any circumstances for a replica whether or not the name Gibbs was involved..

My congrats to the Yaqi Legal department.

Yaqi has taken the design given to them for contract manufacturing, stolen and made minor updates to that design, and now marketing the razor. In the mean time, Yaqi has ceased any contractual obligations of the designer and middle man. And this is apparently legal !

In communist China it is.
