I’m seeing the type of answers I expected. I think many of you would agree that 3-4 years ago this would have been a much more polarizing discussion.

Agreed ........non tallow soap can be outstanding

Tallow vs Vegan has never been a concern for me. There are many factors that come into play...lather consistency, performance, scents, price, post-shave feel, etc.

What about glycerin base soaps?  I haven’t used one in ages but I recall Colonel Conk and the early THB soaps as being glycerin and I found them ok at the time. Does anyone still make it?

Just give me a soap that performs and doesn't harm my skin (and hopefully, not the environment either). Frankly, as someone who shaves, THEN showers (and also has his own skin care regimen), basically all I want out of shave soap is slickness. I won't rely on shave soap to provide post-shave skin care. YMMV, obviously, as "awesome post-shave performance!" is a clarion call for so many, apparently. I ain't hating, just stating what I find most valuable.

no - but if I'm on the edge between two soaps, one with tallow one without, I'm going tallow.

There are some fantastic vegan options, but more tallow ones.

Nah. I won some WSP Rustic in a contest, really liked the scent and basically used nothing else for about 5 weeks. Got it really dialed in and opened my eyes to the fact that veg soap can be awesome.

I think we’re in a great time for shaving soaps, almost everything I’ve tried has been straight awesome.

Wow! My head must have been in the sand. Dominick you are correct. Three and maybe even two years ago you would have seen a heavy predisposition to tallow soaps and frankly I was in the tallow-is-better camp. And honestly I was in the tallow-is-better camp. And for the most part they were. Even then though, I owned a bunch of really great veg soaps. Now, I could myself in the camp where the saponified fat portion of the soap really doesn't matter to me.

There are glycerin soaps around. Look on Amazon.
