As much as I want to buy this new base, after our long winter, I’m in no hurry for June to come!.

While our second formula was a complete reformulation, our third is more of an evolution. It's very similar to our current formula but has been formulated to be a better medium for scents. Our current base has a scent to it due to the richness of the oils we use, and it tends to muddy our scents up a little bit (especially when smelling right from the jar).

I’ve noticed that the current base has a specific “base scent,” but it has never bothered me, and it doesn’t seem to be present when the soap is lathered. I think it’s brilliant, though, that you’ve been able to pinpoint this matter and develop the base even further.

I love my first-generation Morocco, but at the same time, it would be very intriguing to try it in the new base with a little more rose…

So... can we have a hint on how the new scents are gonna be?. I feel like adding a fresh Fougère to my den and a T&S sounds like a good idea.

It along with Root Beer Saloon were two customs we made for a shaving forum in France. Both featured cognac essential oil, sort of Iron Chef style. Shiva's was an amber type scent similar to Himalaya but with some citrus. Root beer Saloon smelled like drinking an old-school root beer or sarsaparilla in a Saloon. Root beer with some grit.  

The scent of West Indies soap is a masterpiece.

Thanks! It's even better in our new base. Once we launch our new base/scents we will slowly change over our current scents to our new base.

I have a question regarding West indies aftershave if I may.

As I said I like the scent of the soap A LOT. While with the soap the scent of orange is dominant and the spices are in the background, with the aftershave the orange is there but it is dominated by the other spices. I also find it a litter more bitter (does the term apply to scents?). Assuming that my nose is right, of course, is there a technical reason for the difference between the two?

I've read enough on forums from the artisans that battle with their soap bases nonstop with frags. Literally dumping fragrance into a medium that does its best to fight the changeover.

I'm not a soap maker but reading that I can only assume some ingredients would need so much added that the costs would outweigh the sale price. With an aftershave your not fighting the base and can get to the scent you want.

My guess is what your smelling in the AS is the scent Ryan really was shooting for.

We will do more with cade/birch tar probably this winter! As you know, they are very polarizing. So while you gents liked it, many didn’t.
