Well my order arrived, factory direct from Canada. I used it for the first time today, and here we are....

First i want to say T&S WAS my favorite soap of all time. I prwfer Hard Soaps, and by MY definitiin it was a HARD soap..sone guys challenged that, but in my book it was hard. I could lather in the bowl of the soap with my Badger brushes and not just dig into a soft croap, but actually lather. Tjat how i prefer.

T&S changed their formula, and i understand why. Im the minority. Most everyone like softer soaps. The artisan behind T&S told me i was the ONLY person to ever say i prefered it hard like it was. So yes. I get it. Dont disagree with it, just am saddened because i lost my favoeite soap of all time. So thata where im coming from.

Now on to this new stuff. I want it to be known. Never once did i think this new formula wouldnt be good. This guy has mad skills. When i opened it the container i was encouraged ro see what LOOKED like possibly a decently thicker formula than i expected. When i acooped some out to load up my bowl, it ended being almost exactly the same consistency as L&L in their newest batches. L&L seemed to get a little softer to me on his new scents. So i spread it around the bottom of my bowl, very smooth and easy.

I used my Sterling Kong brush. When i started to lather i expected this to take a ton of water. It didnt. Id say average amount of water. The lather EXPLODED and literally blew my mind. You know how Shannons is really almost like a yogurt? This startwd to look like that, but it was fluffy...not very technical terminology , but thats how i can best explain it. Lather as ehite as snow, thick , creamy, and just like youd picture lather to look like if Jesus was shaving. Yeah, appearance wise, its unrivaled. Just perfect, cant find a complaint.

Scent wise , it was about a 7. I do not understand the scent, it confounds me. Perplexes me. I dont have any clue , cant identify a familiar note...its not bad, just dont know how i feel.

Now for the important part.

Its amazing. Slick, cushioned, protective, and did i say slick? Just really a fantastic soap. I like it better than L&L , i like it a lot.
Its right their with my top three

1. Bufflehead
2. TurtleShip
3. Jeeves

Its in that group after the first shave. I have a feeling once i get a handle on this soaps quirks and needs its probably going to rival the Bufflehead as the best Soap ive ever ever used. Post shave is as good as youd expect from soap this amazing.

Tallow & Steel reformulated. Pissed me off to lose another hard soap, the Best hard soap, but this guy did not mess around. He made just a stupid good soap. Still wish i coyld get the old stuff too though, but now id be pissed to lose this one too.

If you dont havebthis buy it. Buy them all. Its woeth every penny.

Sounds like people are loving these new T&S's. Which scent did you get?

I love your review. I have the complete set of the new release soaps including 150. I haven't worked my way through all of them yet but so far so awesome. I'm just loving them. 150 is incredible - crushed beaver balls right in your face! I have the complete set of T+S old formula soap as well and its still excellent and I also have several LE T+S old formula soaps like Shag and a few Chatillon Lux - T+S Yuzu Rose Patchouli and Vide Poche. I think thats it. Ryan has done an excellent job.

KhalVoshkod, I’m wondering here:
1) How is this the official review? (Smile I’m just giving you a hard time.)
2) Which scent did you get/use?

I’ve used Morocco twice now, and I agree that it is a fantastic soap. Slickness is incredible (though I must add that I’m new to using a water-softener system) and the quality of the lather is just wonderful. I’m glad to hear that although you are disappointed by the discontinuation of the old formula, you’re impressed by the new one. Happy2

Matsilainen what is your take on the scent of Morroco? I've read some people describe it as a "manly floral" and others describe it as "smokey". I'm intrigued with the description and I like some rose scents such as Jabonman's Rosa Bourbon, but I've never used any smokey scents. Would you mind giving your impressions? Thank You!

I’ll be honest — I’m having a hard time picking up the floral aspect of the soap. I’m sure some other users are more skilled at such. The scent of Morocco is very smoky to me. In a way, it also somehow reminds me of tar, which in my native country of Finland is a scent often associated with summer, since traditionally tar has been used to condition wooden structures (bridges, rollercoasters, you name it) and boats during the short warm season.

I do like the scent, but I was a bit surprised by it. I recall someone saying that the rose is more evident in the aftershave splash.

I could see the smokiness of Morocco being pleasant — and even comforting — during cooler weather.

Hi gents,

Just wanted to pop in and say that we reduced the smokiness on newer batches of Morocco. The aftershave was where we wanted it, but over time in the jar with the lid on, the smoke really took over the soap - so we have adjusted for that.

Cheers

Matsilainen & Ryan @ Tallow + Steel thank you both for the responses. The Morroco sounds like a scent that I would like, but I might have to wait for cooler weather. Boreal may be the way to go for these hot Summer months!

So you’re saying I should hurry up and use the first jar quickly? Smile

(I’ll add that I don’t see that as a problem, because I really enjoy my shaves with it.)

Maybe the opposite. You'll be one of the few that have the smokey version! Unobtanium... sort of.
