As I mentioned before ,I have 3 soaps I consider superior to everything else , Turtleship, Jeeves, & Bufflehead . I put this new formulation by T&S inthe next group down. The scents I don't particularly care for, and I'm not a big fan of the consistench of the soap in the tub itself. To me it's almost identical in form to L&L Grooming.

A soap  from this second tier recently was elevated into my top tier of soaps, making that distinguished group now number 4.  Midnite & Two, another Canadian Artisan. I scored e brand new unused tubs if this stuff off Ebay for 20$ flat each... I had used this before sparingly , but now cannot seem to put it down. Midnite & two is a top tier soap in my den.

Totally agree on the M&T soap, but my experience with the Bufflehead is different. While it lathers wonderfully, it dries my skin even more so than MDC, which is still one of my most favorite soaps.

The Tallow+Steel soaps on the other hand leave my skin well moisturized and soft. The second iteration has even better post-shave feel.

There must be something in MdC and Bufflehead that you don't react well to. Bufflehead is my most moisturizing soap

I love the formula of T+S. I'm not sold on the scents yet....

I have received and tried Himalaya. Only two times so this is just my initial impression. I like the scent. Very difficult to describe. Very "different".
Regarding performances, I would say that protection is good, and post shave is at the top. Lubrication is OK, I had to dip the razor in water more often than I am used to but I am sure it was me rather then the soap. I need to add a little more water.
I'll use it again but so far I can say that just the scent and the post shave alone justify keeping it the den (even if it costs 2.6 times the price of a Stirling, my preferred brand), so I have decided to order the aftershave splash as well.

Just wanted to pop in and say that we reduced the smokiness on newer batches of Morocco. The aftershave was where we wanted it, but over time in the jar with the lid on, the smoke really took over the soap - so we have adjusted for that.

Cheers

I didn't mind the smokyness at all, but I'm sure many would be delighted. It's my favorite among your line. Great job

I have received Himalaya aftershave and I have used it this evening with its soap. I am totally flabbergasted by how good this scent is (sorry but I was not able to find a more difficult term Smile ). I have never been to Nepal but I like to think that this is how a barber shop would smell there (or in Manila?). By the way, is it me or there are powdery notes?

Excellent.

My 2 Cents.

Picked up West Indies. Was expecting something fresh and clean from the description (maybe my bad there) and a few reviews I'd read online.

Sorely disappointed with the scent. Performance wise (for me), this soap feels similar or even slightly inferior to some great soaps like L&L and Sudsy.

Overall not too happy with Tallow and Steel and wouldn't recommend this shave soap to anyone.

The old formula was definitely superior IMHO...but apparently I'm the minority

I bought the Maya. Hard to describe the scent. Spicy maybe? Not my cup of tea. Performance was pretty good for me. I never tried the original formula so I can't compare the two.

Different soaps for different folks. I have a tub of Bufflehead which I used for the first time the other day and though t while it is definitely a very good soap I certainly wasn't wowed by it.

So nice that we currently have such a great variety of amazing soaps
