Very true. I'll also have to make sure to get a new jar at some point, so that I can compare the two side by side.

Nnnnoooooo! I like the smokiness as-is, to be honest. Sure, it drowns out the other notes a bit on the surface... But still.

I personally think if they downplayed the smoke a tad and added the rose it would be super. I do know everyone takes scent in a different way, but for the most part I feel like I am at a campfire back in BC and someone threw in a whack of wet cedar along with some green wood ( maybe that is the oakmoss).

However when I did lather with it the scent is somewhat subdued.

I do have all 5 soaps now only lathered with Maya and Morocco, but my favorite scent in the tub would be Boreal or Maya, but I would like to lather them all before passing judgment as to me most soaps as well as AS EDT take on a different scent after initial use.

Now for the soap base which has nothing to do with scent, on that note I would say excellent, as someone posted before me, post shave I feel great almost no need for anything else.

I have 3 of the other existing soaps and to be honest I like them all, as for the new soap base my thoughts are that the post feel are better than the last generation, but very close.

Not sure what else to say but unless everyone is using the same water, and same techniques opinions will differ.

Man, the reviews this base is getting is unbelievable. I can't wait to try it out for myself.

A good friend suggested Boreal, and I think I'll go with that one first.

They are now available at Maggard. Ordered a tub of Himalaya.
(BTW Maggard currently offers a $4 discount for orders over $17)

I have the Maya and Himalaya, and love them both. I would have ordered all of them, but I have a serious space problem that is making my wife of 36 years apoplectic. It would be silly to lose a great marriage over shaving soap. Right?

Celestino, no I don't. I'm looking forward to unloading some soaps in the very near term to bring things back into balance. Exacerbating the issue is the fact that she thinks my hair is too long, after not having a haircut for about 2-1/2 years. I suggested yesterday that I go back to my standby--a buzz cut---but she wants me to go to her "stylist" and spend a couple hundred bucks. I've considered my haircut savings as a "shaving gear fund" for a long time. I'm conflicted...

No haircut in 2.5 years? That sounds awesome! (I used to have long hair.) You really should post a photo in the “Faces to Names” thread… Smile

I’ve been cutting and styling my own hair for over 20 years now. Every time when I’m reminded about how much some people (such as my wife) spend on maintaining their hair, I feel somehow justified in spending equally ludicrous amounts on shaving stuff… Confused

After using the new T&S soap 10 times, I'm very comfortable with it. It's a very good soap.

As I mentioned before ,I have 3 soaps I consider superior to everything else , Turtleship, Jeeves, & Bufflehead . I put this new formulation by T&S inthe next group down. The scents I don't particularly care for, and I'm not a big fan of the consistench of the soap in the tub itself. To me it's almost identical in form to L&L Grooming.

A soap from this second tier recently was elevated into my top tier of soaps, making that distinguished group now number 4. Midnite & Two, another Canadian Artisan. I scored e brand new unused tubs if this stuff off Ebay for 20$ flat each... I had used this before sparingly , but now cannot seem to put it down. Midnite & two is a top tier soap in my den.
