To each their own, but folks are moving on from the plisson as with any other brush as time passes. The price point on the Stirling brush makes it easy to sell. Hell, when the brush of the gods guy himself says these brushes are better than the plisson that's pretty much all the data I need.

I'm not giving up my Thater though lol

Some people have been moving on from ALL brushes for years. That's the shaving hobby. Folks try this and that to find what fits. But not ALL folks are moving on from the Plisson or any other brush. I have no doubt that the Sterling is a nice brush. I don't know that I'll buy the Sterling, but I absolutely know that I'm not selling any brushes at all; to include the Plisson.

[Image: qJLt2Mc.jpg]The Fine wasn't for me but the Plisson, Stirling & Muhle knots all perform as well or better than my top end badgers. I prefer my Simpsons, M&F's & especially the Rooney Heritage line from some years ago and the new Shavemac 2-band. But just on pure performance I love high quality synthetics!

Which brush is that?

Of course not all (including me) are moving on.  That's just the the way it is.  Part of it is, "The next best thing phenomenon."  People used to keep and use things for longer (Yes I'm showing my age lol).  Now people drop whatever they have as soon as something new comes out even though they have no idea if that new thing is any better.  I can remember a few years ago talking to a coworker about the newest iPhone coming out.

"So it really doesn't do anything better than the last one?"

"Yeah, but it has a fingerprint scanner."

"So what does it do better than the last one?"

"I don't know, but it has a fingerprint scanner."

You put that much stock into one persons opinion?

Like Brian said, I'm not looking to sell any brushes.  The moment I do, I'll regret it and then not be able to secure another from the same time period.

All evidence has been buried.  All tapes have been erased.

No, but that guy is in LOVE with the damn things lol.  I've seen it mentioned a lot on youtube/other shaving forums also.  I think my switchback has replaced my plisson, along with my Nathan Clark ubersoft, but I won't be getting rid of it.  Like I said I like all my different brushes for different reasons, but both of those synths I feel are better than the plisson based on my OWN opinion.  Others may disagree.

I am relatively new to this wet shaving. I started about three years ago. But more and more I am happy with my own conclusions.
I have had three marvelous shaves with my new Stirling brush. There is nothing like it.

In the past three years I have been constantly searching for a better brush. I started with an Omega Hog Hair from my super market. That almost made me quit wet shaving. I moved up through the various grades of badger to a Silver Tip.
However I found Frank Shave's Finest Badger was the very best from that unhappy animal.
My Horse Hair still has the stable smell after several dozen gallops and it feels --- goopy.
I then acquired a Body Shop Synthetic. I liked it but it was much too small. Perhaps OK for a woman's legs. Two more synthetics. Each larger and better than the previous.

My search has ended. I need not buy another brush. The Stirling is sheer perfection like a gentle warm breeze caressing my cheeks.
I can hardly sleep at night as I wait for something to sprout on my face for the morning.
The handle, the knot, the shape - all have been blended into an instrument of perfect harmony.

The old timers. They make a nice display and will be used occasionally just to remind me how lucky I am.
