I’ll need to go back and watch. I don’t remember him saying anything about a forum. He did say they had a relationship with a “major” shaving website.

also, when negotiating how much equity to give up he mentioned he wanted to optimize the valuation. Wonder if they are trying to setup an exit opportunity in a few years.

I wish I bought one when they were $75, there’s no way I’d pay $150 for the SS, I think they’ve over priced the SS option but they’ll do good with the alloy razor for $75.

I'm not sure $75 is going to cut it for the mass market they appear to be going for. A competitor for them from my standpoint, the Oneblade is well below that.

Shoot, I bought the stainless version with 3 plates secondhand for $60 when I had it. I think I sold it for $50 or $55. There's no way I would pay $150...

yeah, $150 for an injector seems a little steep to me.

IMHO it is virtually certain that their primary target market is mainstream shavers, not hobbyist wetshavers. The hobbyist market (i.e. people on the wetshaving forums) has a mountain of alternative products, a ton of vendors, often focuses on buying huge caches of a large variety of products, is fickle, and is relatively tiny. It is a good place to start, but lacks growth potential. This holds especially true as hobbyist traditional shaving increasingly diverges from mainstream traditional shaving.

Going by the products and marketing on their website, Supply is more like Art of Shaving - A small artisan company that grew through savvy business management and focusing on a largely untapped market. Pacific Shaving Co. is another wetshaving startup company that did the same thing, and is also rapidly growing. Van Der Hagen focused on the mainstream, grew quickly, and was then sold. And Kiss My Face. That is not to say wetshaving forum-focused vendors are not important, they are, and the innovation ecosystem they create is very important. It is likely that some of them will make substantial gains in the mainstream, too.

With 1 million in sales that is set to increase 150 percent this year, it is obvious Supply is very well managed and is going places. The $300K is to make Supply grow even bigger more quickly, and Robert Herjavec's guidance and connections as business partner will be invaluable. As with the Art of Shaving and Van Der Hagen founders, their real payday comes when the company is sold. Then their products become even more widespread, which is good for consumers.

It is likely that the forum communities were launching pads and testing grounds. If so, that was a smart move on Supply's part. Where better to launch, get feedback from people in the know, and make any necessary product tweaks?

Or reddit/r/wicked_edge, which is the largest wetshaving forum, and doesn't have the controversy and baggage associated with B&B. A major shaving website could be pretty much anything, depending on how it is defined.

Im glad they got their deal but that clip of them closing did absolutely nothing to change my opinion that VCs are just utter trash.
