Nothing. I was just answering a question about his referring to a website. I was just noting that outside of the shaving community, I'm not sure it would be perceived as major from a guy that is likely thinking mass market.

That may have been another ad I saw. As noted, the Facebook video ad had many positive responses. It was interesting because there was a still image from the back of the razor on IG (poor response) and a video that obviously told a better story on FB. (positive responses)

Remember, it was a paid ad I was referring to. Not their feed.

The poor responses could have been just folks being cranky. You could be right, maybe they didn't like the ad. Nowadays it's hard to tell which reviews are real and which are not.

It is great to see they got funded! A rising tide lifts all boats, and the traditional shaving tide looks like it is still rising.

We have to acknowledge that most of those folks seeing a paid ad are not hobbyists and have a different perspective.
It is not surprising that their IG followers would be back slapping.
I'm a bit of a contrarian I know. Just trying to point out there's a whole big world out there.

How is that contrarian? It's the truth. Their friends are going to go online and give them props. I would do the same for my friends.

People on the forums often think traditional wetshaving, as it exists in the forums, is a far larger piece of the pie than is actually the case. The majority of traditional shavers worldwide are not hobbyists, and do not see shaving as anything special. Most members of the general public don't even know traditional shaving is a thing.

Or for speaking truth to an online microculture that has very much diverged from standard old-school wetshaving in the past decade. The number of people who have large stores of gear, think tallow soaps are necessarily better than non-tallow soaps, cork blades, bloom soaps, etc. is probably 100,000 or less. Not that there is anything wrong with the hobby aspect of things, it's just that it is not representative of wetshavers in general. There is no way that hobbyists will keep devouring product at an astronomical rate, though. At some point, they will have had their fill.

The largest potential market always was those who had yet to discover traditional shaving. With its product lineup, subscription program and vision, Supply is poised to be a breakout company. They have plenty of money for future development, including advertising, so a few rock-throwers on one ad won't even be a blip on the radar. It will be the online reviews over time that will be their real thumbs up or thumbs down. Our small pond just got larger, and some of the big fish may be uneasy.
