Two shaves with the Medium Plate (and the Supply Provisions Personna? blade) so far were very...bloody

I must admit, the only injector I have tried before was the M-type - but I got some of the best shaves of my life out of it. Hence my question earlier...
I have been using the medium plate and find that the SPC razor is another that likes a very shallow angle. Once dialed in, it is a mild yet efficient shaver akin the Feather ASD2 from my experience.

If you play around with the angle perhaps you'll have better luck? Please do keep us posted.

I agree with Kevin about the shallow angle. I've been using mine with the medium plate and found it to be mild, but efficient. I'm also getting a fair amount of auditory feedback while shaving with this razor, which I attribute to it being all stainless steel.

One other thought, alfredus, can you double check and make sure the edge of the blade is not damaged? Sometimes injector blades go into the razor a little wonky and scrape against the blade stops. If this happens and goes unnoticed before the shave, it can very easily lead to an uncomfortable and bloody experience even if everything else is perfect. Please keep us posted. Feel free to PM me.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Today I switched to a Schick blade and the mild plate. There was a huge improvement in terms of smoothness - but the mild plate is definitely not efficient enough. I will switch back to the medium plate, but stick to the Schick. If this holds true, and the blade is the culprit, this is going to be an expensive razor to run...

I don't know what the problem with the supplied blades are - but I definitely did not damage the edge. I take off the baseplate and put the blade "manually" into the right position (coming from the top). One of the reasons I was so drawn to this razor in the first place, was the solid blade mechanism, which I find on some the vintage injectors to be the absolute weak point...(besides the material Big Grin)

On this note: has any one tried the razor without the spring? It should work fine, shouldn't it?

Installing the blade manually: You know, that was something I had liked about the design of this razor. The truth be told, the reason I suggested the edge damage thing was because I'd experienced that problem personally with a vintage injector. That was one of the worst shaves EVER! And, bloody!

I just tried to remove the spring from the thumb screw and was unable to remove it. I could force it off, but don't want to mess up the whole works before replacement parts are available. The design appears to bottom out the thumb screw with the spring supplying the pressure on the plate to hold the blade tight. I could be wrong.

As far as blades go, I still prefer the vintage/NOS blades to the current production. The blade definitely makes a difference. I like the current production Chick blades over the current production Personna blades. YMMV, of course!

alfredus, good luck and I hope this razor ends up working out for you as it seems to be really well made and not the cheapest option for injectors. It still is the only current production(that I know of) injector razor available right now.

You were not far off about the damage to the blade. If you read the little card SPC adds to the razor, they mention in the 'tips' section that on the milder plates you might need to push upwards on the left side of the baseplate to rotate it a bit (if I recall correctly). Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm odd. I read everything Smile
Also, I've encountered some dud blades in the Personna magazines, usually the first one.
I'm liking this razor more and more after each shave, and I think the aggressive plate is the one for me. Maybe the resurgence of injector razors (I think Mongoose proclaimed an injector mini-goose in the works) would generate enough demand for these blades that maybe more supply option would emerge.
On a tangent - the shaving angle. I might be blasphemous, but I feel that the shaving angle is a bit more intuitive (for me) than the vintage injectors. What's your experience? Also, it feels much better/substantial in my hand.

I truly think I received a lemon, a defective version of the Supply Provision injector,as I have not been able to get a smooth shave or even a DFS with any of the plates and 3 different blades and I have been trying now for over for 2 weeks. I think something is definitely wrong with my razor, as received, as even with the blades supplied with the Supply Provision razor I can do much better with any of the old Schicks I have. I was hoping for something good, but I am definitely disappointed. The razor for me is extremely harsh and always results in a shave that is unacceptable. And, it is very easy for me to shed a lot of blood. And, with all 3 plates. Less to more, of course depending on which plate. At least for me, I am sorry I bought the razor! But, that's the way the news flops and I will get over it. Won't be my first bad purchase! IMHO the razor I received is not acceptable for shaving. From what I read here I think others have received something else, a different razor altogether? Could be, I suppose? It certainly makes me wonder about the final assembly and the finishing/fittings technique used?? For the same money I bought a Rockwell razor and I could not get a better shave. Go figure?
