Stirling Soap 316 Stainless Steel Razor

The HA plate is definitely aggressive but equally smooth! It will also rid you of any unsightly blemishes that stick up above the skin surface as well!

I am extremely please with this purchase. The standard plate is nice too but the aggressive plate is special.

I found from my uses I need to be careful with both plates. I had a bunch of stubble, probably more than what I had when I used the HA, and the ST had no problems. Only had a few spots of slight pulling, but that was just some stubborn hairs. I was on alert and had no problems other than slight, mild alum burn for 2 seconds and then gone. I imagine I’ll use these for days when I took too long to shave again, but it really hits the spot when the time is right! I used my Iniquity for Him soap as well at the same time and was well impressed with it! Enough so that I think a few more purchases would be in order!

One thing I forgot to mention is that I forgot I could pick a number, and Rod chose the same serial for both my plates! I was surprised and pleased with it and with the number. I’ve always liked 17, and while it was 18 that I got, I’m more than pleased with that and feel it was meant to be with that. To take the time to match the serial numbers up was a nice touch, not to mention the packaging job. The only way the various shipping companies were going to not deliver it is through sheer stupidity of misplacement, which I couldn’t see, or to deliberately try to damage it which wouldn’t have fared much better! Lol

The ST plate is definitely no slouch either that’s for sure!!!!!!

The ST test with a thick beard was the only test I couldn’t get in when I had it in the pass around. They are definitely useable with less facial hair too. The blade gap and blade exposure is quite a difference. The closest I can compare them to is the Nodachi. The St is supercharged, and then for the HA it’s like someone put in a rocket engine in a leaf blower but also some way to control it. How much carnage you unleash is up to you. Lol

Mine arrived last week, but my friend picked it up at the post office and I will see him today, so hopefully I can test it tomorrow.

Bought both plates and will try the ST 1st, just to wet the toes

And had no idea you could pick your serial #, so who cares, LOL!!!!!

Maiden voyage with the HA plate and full attack mode onto an 8 day beard.

First pass strokes were done carefully but after a while it was without any more fear of that huge gap.

The interesting part came on the subsequent passes now with the beard gone and although some fear came back, it went smoothly on the XTG, ATG and ATG/clean up passes.

Just a small weeper on the last pass cleaning on the neck but other than that, not bad at all.

Although it felt the blade very secured somehow it sang like a Futur completely opened up.

So I wanted to get back to the NEW Stirling Razor and the ST Head. I have the HA Head also and will get back to trying that one but I'm pretty sure this is the one I'd use the majority of the time. Even being the Standard head it boasts a huge gap. If you use the right angle and light pressure (meaning enough to hold angle and skin contact) it will reward you with eel like slickness. That's right my BBS Baby plays with eels Loving this razor from Rod and Mandy ezlovan The soap was the remainder of my Cucumber Melon which is dwindling. In honor of seeing Eric show up and join the Journals here (That makes 11 I believe ) I pulled a special brush out. It was whipped up with a Smattayu Sorrentino Special with some history. This was made from the left over resin from his 1st 3 handles he (on video) poured himself and was dubbed the Clown Puke. I LOVE this handle and the knot has grown on me. I've considered changing it but the white knot has softened and fits the Clown Puke theme so well. If replaced it would need to be one that could carry the theme of this pour. Sorry for the lousy pics, it's hard to catch the colors of the brush and quality of the razor as well as they look in person. Topped with the Proraso green splash and some Profumo and I'm ready for a relaxing day before back to the grind tomorrow. Storms rolled thru here and it's too dark to look to see the tree situation but all seems alright. Just heavy rain right now and flood warnings etc in the area which is par for the course near the Cumberland River here. I sit high up on the side of a mountain and while I could get landlocked at times, if I'm in flood danger someone better have built an Ark somewhere. Have a great Sunday Everyone !

At the time, I was a bit bummed that I had to order both base plates, as I was certain that the HA plate was all I needed. Having re-read this thread this afternoon, I’m now glad I ordered both. I look forward to trying my new razor—my first new razor in about 18 months!

the HA is a beast. I generally like aggressive razors, but that might be a bit much for most if you shave daily. The ST is a good mix of efficiency without being crazy aggressive.

I’ve not missed a daily shave in over a year. Lately I’ve been using the 2011 version of the R41 for my shaves. I suspect I’ll like the HA and ST, both.
