7/05/15 - Savon A Raser

I really like the clean scent of this soap. A lot of Shea Butter but so far it's a good post shave.
Shaved yesterday with the R2 and today with the M2. Neither was good shaves at all. Walked a way with bad irritation. I'm going to try a different blade tomorrow and see if that helps.

Post: Soap Commander "Integrity" ASB

After a full #IndependenceDay, I really needed to wind down and this soap helped me do just that. Wonderfully soothing, super-easy to lather, and a great post-shave. Can't complain about this one at all.

Smooth in two passes on both face and dome.

Be smooth, everyone!

Schick B 1 Type Repeater...... Shy
[img][Image: hg_zpsuustbkz4.jpg][/img]
Another Shot.... Shy
[img][Image: bn_zps1rmwumvs.jpg][/img]
And another.... Confused
[img][Image: mmmm_zpsdnmwhzar.jpg][/img]
My newly acquired Schick Repeater B 1 arrived in the post 2 days ago and I have just sat down after having my maiden shave with it.....These are the sellers photos and they don't really do the razor any justice.....This razor is in almost mint condition......The leather pouch still has a fresh leather smell to it.......The razor came with a magazine full of the original blades and it functions as smooth as silk....Colonel Schick was a military man of course and he designed the Repeating Razor with the idea he got with working with magazine fed weapon's......I have nick named the B 1 "Lock & Load ".....[Image: eek.png]......The magazine loading system is an engineering wonder in its own right......These razors are heavily Silver Plated and are beautiful to look at......These razors are must have looked like something from the future when they came out around 1926.....[Image: eek.png]

The original blades are somewhat thicker than modern Injector blades....I have been advised to load them by hand as a modern blade can apparently get stuck in the loading mechanism.....Many folks have ruined their Repeater's attempting to retrieve a jammed up blade in the loading mechanism....I will not be attempting fate here.....I had to "tighten up the head" slightly to get it to hold a thinner modern injector blade....A two minute job.....No problems...There are no blade stops in these razors.....The blade loads in to the side of the head like later injectors, but is only held firm by the front of the head that acts like a clamp.....The blade sits firmly at the back of the head......[Image: rolleyes.png]

An Old Timer Schick user informed me that the B 1 was a very aggressive razor.....I thus, decided to treat the B 1 with an NOS Schick Krona Injector Blade as they are very smooth and forgiving.....[Image: tongue.png]

Three Pass Shaving Routine (Cold Water)

Hot Water prep & massage with Coconut Oil
Schick Repeater Type B 1
NOS Schick Krona Injector Blade (New)
Semogue Classic 208 Boar Brush
Super Max Classic Shaving Cream (Added Hemp Oil)
Organic Aloe Vera Gel

On the first pass I was using the B 1 like I would use an Injector, but I was starting to get the picture that these are different animal....These are very aggressive razors, no bones about it....The first pass took away a surprizing amount off my three or four days growth of whiskers .......I was thinking yeah, this things hyper aggressive.....Yes...Sir..Eeeeee.....[Image: cool.png]Round about the chin area was a tad tuggy, but by no means a rough ride....A New NOS Krona Blade can have these characteristics at the best of times with a heavy growth, and al lot of folks don't like them for that reason.....But they come into there own after the initial first pass and are as Smooth as Icing on a Cake......[Image: wink.png]

The B 1 is a smooth comb design and "Boy is it Smooth or What" ......The B 1 has a "Very Complex Personality" and is in a "Constant State of Change" from One Micro Second to the Next......It can feel Hyper Aggressive, Hyper Smooth, and then the blade seems to disappear altogether .....Its a really hard razor to get to know......I ended up using the B 1 like a Modern Gillette Sensor Cartridge Razor....The smooth comb was so smooth that it felt as if it had a lubrication strip on it.....I ended up painting my face with it and letting the razor dance freely all over my face....[Image: tongue.png]

I ended up with a Super Deep All Over BBS Result that I would have expected from a PAL Injectomatic .....I am Gob Smacked as I thought I would have had some razor burn after being so free with it....I splashed half the River Clyde onto my face after finishing up.....But....Hell....no razor burn or any irritation worth speaking of....

The Schick Repeater B 1 is either a Complex Animal or a Very Simple Animal .....I have not decided yet.....I think its hard for me to grasp that I just might be shaving with a 1926 design razor that is behaving more like a Modern Cartridge Razor, but with more of a Bite......[Image: cool.png]

SOTN: 7/5/2015 - "Passion For the Blade"
#JumbledJuly Day 5

Pre: Shower & Nivea Creme
Soap: Soap Commander "Passion"
Brush: Vie Long 13070 Horsey
Razor(s): Sterling 5/8 and PAA DOC on Maggard MR5 handle (w/ Feather Hi-Stainless)
Post: Soap Commander "Passion" ASB

Took the Sterling for 50 swipes on the strop and it made a palpable difference in tonight's shave. I generally only have time for a straight on Sunday nights. This was great.

I've decided that I need to bloom more of my soaps to maximize my experience (if I have the time, that is). Blooming Passion made the scent pop instantly and - I think - a great effect on ease of lather. Soap Commander always lathers well, but this was almost effortless with the Vie Long. That brush doesn't get enough love from me. I need to bust it out more often.

If you haven't tried Passion yet, shame on you. The sweet, spicy, wood scent is among my absolute favorites. Mrs. Clean Shaver is a fan to... (wink, wink).

The big question is, WHEN will Soap Commander come out with an AS or EdT for this scent?! Love you Seibert's! ;-)

Be smooth, everyone!
