SOTD THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2020

The shave today I was excellent. The soap was ok, but it just didn’t provide the quality post shave feel I look for. MWF and Nancy Boy Signature have spoiled me. The Lord straight razor with it’s smooth buttery jasper stone edge was a delight to shave with. Two passes (WTG, ATG) on the mug and two of the same on the dome with my Valet Auto Strop VC3 was all she wrote. I feel smooth, clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: Lord 5/8 (Mug), Valet Auto Strop Model VC3 (Dome)
BLADE: Feather FAS-10
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Monster Aluminum Tuxedo Synthetic
SOAP: Wholly Kaw King of Oud
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub.

I like the green bouncing around the bottom of the bowl. I didn't notice that in the viewfinder.

prep - shower with Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk with Shea Butter bar soap
razor - Gillette Long-Comb New
blade - Shaverboy Super Stainless (18)
brush - vintage Stag B1183
soap - Stirling's "Stirling Noir"
post - warm water rinse, DSA “Pure & Natural” alum, cold water rinse
aftershave - Jeris Osage Rub
music - Frank Zappa - "Weasels Ripped My Flesh". More details in the Music thread.

I shoulda' used more soap, but I tend to use less when it's taken from a smaller container.

The blade is starting to drag.
Still good enough for a DFS. Happy2

John, if you've addressed this before I apologise. What bowl and size is that?

No problem.
I talked about it here https://damnfineshave.com/thread-shaving...#pid350971
and here https://damnfineshave.com/thread-larger-...#pid348852 .

TLDR version: "My SS bowl is 123 mm (4.84") wide, 60 mm (2.36") deep, and the flat bottom is about 50 mm wide. If I fill it to overflowing, it holds 560 ml."

One bonus feature that I failed to mention in earlier posts is that due to the thin edge, if a little bit of lather slops over the edge and just hangs there, you can usually draw the brush up on the inside of the bowl's edge and thereby pull the wayward lather back onto the brush. I can't do that with thick, flared, or rolled edges.

But the best feature is that it turns my sink into a giant modern-type scuttle for small and medium-sized brushes. Toasty warm lather for all the passes.
