SOTN - Tuesday, October 20
I'm experimenting with a cyclorama background and two 5000 K LED lamps in 1-foot diameter reflectors on telescoping tripod stands.
I like the green caustic from the Clubman bottle, and the handle of the brush looks much nicer than usual (not so cloudy).
prep - shower with Caprina Fresh Goat’s Milk with Shea Butter bar soap
razor - Canadian Pre-War Fat-Handled Tech
blade - Shaverboy Super Stainless (16)
brush - Fendrihan Classic Pure Grey Badger
soap - Saponificio Varesino's Stella Alpina
post - warm water rinse, DSA “Pure & Natural” alum, cold water rinse
aftershave - Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla
music - an earworm of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Edelweiss", which is used in the opening credits of Prime Video's "The Man in the High Castle" series. I have been watching it recently.
Here's where it gets weird.
I looked up "Stella Alpina", and it turns out that it is the Italian name for the same flower, called "Edelweiss" (or "Edelweiß") in German.
Purely coincidental, since I'm going in alphabetical order for my soap rotation.
Anyway, I followed my new strategy of scraping too much soap into the bowl, working it with the brush and adding water until I have the quantity (lots) and quality (creamy) of lather that suits me. During cleanup, scrape up the leftover solid soap and return it to the tub.
During the shave I parked one of the flood lights next to the sink and pointed it down so that the white sink bounced the light back up, illuminating my neck and under my chin. I'm not sure that it's worth the effort.
So tonight - a BBS.
