SN putting cap prices on M&F brushes

That other crappy forum has put selling price caps on M&F brushes. While I get pushing high prices in items isn't a good practice, setting prices on items that are very difficult to obtain new seems unfair. Don't get me wrong, while I own numerous M&F brushes I don't intend on selling any of them anytime soon. But to put caps on them seems far reaching. Just another reason why I despise that forum.

If the asking price is too high, make an offer. If that's too high. Move on and find elsewhere. With some patience.

TXFIVEO I understand what they were trying to do with this rule and I personally feel it was a good change, although the prices may be a bit low, they aren't far off from the prices Lee asks for his brushes when they are brand new. They also say if the fixed price seems too low to you, you can always look to another place to sell your M&F.  Around the time they made the rule there were guys trying to sell 4 year old 2XLs for $290!  That is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.  I can understand why someone might be suckered into paying the hefty price though, as getting in touch with Lee is no simple feet, but they shouldn't be paying that much for a brush in my opinion when the brush new likely cost somewhere in the ball park of $245.

One thing you didn't mention in your original post is that this rule applies to all products sold on theTSN BST.  While there isn't a fixed price guide per se, any currently produced and available product is not supposed to sell for more than someone can buy it new.  This obviously does not apply to no longer available items.   To me this seems like a very logical approach.  Any way not looking to get into a debate on the matter but I think it is a pretty good change and thought any further discussion should contain all the facts.

I can get a new or used Simpson Chubby 3 Disco anytime. Good luck finding a Disco/Moonjava M&F. Definitely not new and used is just as tough. Price gouging is bad, but to restrict proper pricing...well you don't see many M&F's sold there anymore.

Yep. I had a MF in genuine horn. asked the Mods if it was kosher to list a bit higher since horn is at a premium. Was denied.

Sold it anyhow for the price I needed. Mind you I didn't price gouge.

I am not quite sure I follow... What seems shady about asking us to sell these brushes for close to what we paid for them? Seems to me to sell them for more than they cost is the shady thing to do.
In truth, the root of the problem is simply most people with M&F brushes have purchased them in the secondary market and the vast majority of people have no clue what an M&F costs new because they were never able to contact Lee and it was taboo to speak of the price on the forums. Those who've purchased the brushes at inflated prices are really surprised to learn that their newly acquired brush isn't worth (at least in the eyes of the TSN mods) what they paid for it. I'm all for people knowing the price of a brush but unfortunately Lee seems to sell in a price range not a set number.

I cant imagine spending half a month's rent on a shaving brush...boggles my mind...
