My First 2025 Surprise: Sir Henry's Shave Products
Based upon reviews and recommendations by Dave
Dave in KY and
TommyCarioca, I decided to buy some Sir Henry's products at the Wet Shaving Store's year end sale. I was hoping to get a set of Kentucky Rain and Sandalwood. The store had Sandalwood soap and Kentucky Rain AS. I, therefore, went with those two products.
Soap: I bowl lather, and the soap had just the right firmness to allow me to easily spread it on the bottom of the bowl. The texture was closer to a hard soap, which is a plus in my books. It had a nice sandalwood scent. Based upon a review I read, I was expecting it to be a strong sandalwood. To me, it was more softer. I scooped my standard amount and used a Muhle STF 25mm synthetic brush. I was blown away by the ease and quality of lather the soap produced within 15-20 seconds. It exploded into a rich, creamy lather almost instantaneously. I dipped the tip of my brush only once and had enough outstanding lather for two shaves. The lather was thick and provided excellent cushioning. It also had excellent residual slickness. Shaving was a breeze with this soap and the Oliblade with a sharp accuthrive blade. I had no issues or complaints whatsoever.
Aftershave: I enjoy AS containing or is primary based upon witch hazel. Kentucky Rain AS falls right in line with my preference and was very soothing. The scent was especially AMAZING!! My not so great sense of smell picked up the rose, bourbon and leather--what a combination! The AS had some legs and lasted a few hours. I definitely plan on getting the matching soap.
Overall: I definitely enjoyed the soap and AS and had an excellent shave today. The tallow based soap is first-class, and one of the easiest soaps to lather. The Kentucky Rain fragrance is exceptional and a must try (own for me). Great job
