Our Corolla went into the body shop on the 2nd for minor parking lot damage. It's still in the body shop. I'm driving a rental Mitsubishi Outlander that's just... well, let me put it this way, I don't see me buying one. There are just too many things about it that are in the category of, "Now who thought that would be a good idea?". For instance, trip data, like MPG and such is prominently displayed right in front of the driver. The speedometer is off to the side. Seeing the speedometer is sorta important and is used frequently. Trip data not so much. It took me 9 days to figure out how to figure out how to get it into Park while the engine was running. I figured out early on that shutting the engine off automatically put it into park, but the button on the side of the gear selector? No that doesn't work to get it there. But to move from drive to reverse, that side button must be used. I called the local dealer and he was no help. Told me to use the button. Then I got the bright idea to just start pushing things. Shazamm! On the gear selector there is a lit section that indicates when the car is in park, it does NOT look like a button. Guess what? It's a button. They have the side button to go into reverse, but a different button to put it into park. The Outlander is loaded but does it a self driving feature (Lane tracking assistant coupled with cruise control) ? No. A very strange mix of features. Yes, it has cruise control but both are required for what I call self driving.
I eagerly anticipate getting our Corolla returned to us. Maybe today?
This winter my truck stopped running. Just stopped and wouldn't start and run. I took it to the dealers shop. Because it wasn't running they couldn't hook it up to the computer to diagnose it. So we decided to trade it to buy a new one. It was 16 years old anyway and anything could go wrong with it, so in our view it was time. It was a very low mileage truck. My neighbor asked me if he paid me what the dealer was giving for it could he have it? Sure! I made no promises which he understood, so he could be buying junk, again understood. He got it home and replaced the fuel pump and it ran. I'm not a mechanic so I don't know how to check the pump on it for function, but I think I could figure out to disconnect a line to see if I get fuel. My neighbor has a full size truck loaded with all sorts of stuff and he's afraid to take it into the willywacks to go fishing. Now he has one that he'll take there. I'm glad to see that he has it. But really? A mechanic couldn't figure out it wasn't getting fuel enough to run? What they wanted to do was tear the engine apart to see what was going on inside. I'm no mechanic, but I'm not stupid. I knew it wasn't mechanical inside the engine, and I wasn't going to allow that at $135/hr.
We have had a Tacoma on order now for MONTHS, we got a call from the dealer last week telling us that they were about to build it. Maybe we'll see it by June, but maybe not. If we wanted a truck that is loaded with all sorts of creature comfort stuff we could have had it immediately... and paid another $10k for all that stuff. No, I just want a truck that I'm not afraid to get "Maine racing stripes" on. They happen when plowing snow and rubbing against something.
I’m sorry that your going trough this I know it’s not easy and completely feel you, my wife had 2018 Corrola and nothing wrong the car as I maintain it so well I should be Toyota/Lexus technician lol but anyhow this particular model had stiff suspension and when you turn wheels there is loud “clunk” noise and after me personally investigating it taking for a ride since Toyota technician could find issue and I have discover there is control arm bushing become worn out but need to be replaced due to is flaw it’s just the way this Generation of Corrola is made that’s all so due to it high demand of Toyota’s and especially corrolas here in Canada we sold it 2k less what she payed for imagine and for her nive 2021 Corrola Se with 2.0 engine 8spd it’s a Lexus engine pretty much what I have on my 2021 NX except I have turbo she doesn’t still who cares it’s reliable and bullet proof if you maintain it proprely
that’s all..
Now for wait times for New Toyota’s forget about it’s crazy and demand is so high impossible to get the hands on one even if you have money to toss for brand new one lol imagine…
I sold my 2021 Toyota RAV4 Limited for 50k more than I payed for and I was lucky as they say “timing is everything” well sometime not all the time and I got my 2021 used Lexus NX premium package imagine I would of never thaught of that how crazy it is…
The couple who bought my Toyota RAV4 limited waited 18 months for same car and nothing even tho they put down 10K wow that must be a blow and frustrating..
I wasn’t trying to show of here with “Lexus” but good intention thoughts and different topic hope folks don’t take it wrong way as I’m not that type to show off never been been driving my Wife’s Corrola lately as she is taking my Lexus most of the time lol..
I hope you get what you want and sometime that’s not easy esspeceally as I see people putting deposit for new cars wait time over the year and plus depending what it is it’s out of this world..but as always hope for the Best…for all of us.
Best Regards
