Fantastic job on the reknot. I booked marked this thread in case I have issues with my Simpsons brushes in the future.

He did a wonderful job with the re knot and as I've said it's virtually the same as the Simpson knot characteristics.

I will admit, a wave of fear went through me when I was reading over your posts. I have a Chubby 2 best in route to me now, ha. But it is new so I'm hoping it is the same quality I've experienced from my previous favorite badger, a Commodore X3.

I wouldn't worry , I've had a CH2 Best and a CH1 Super before and I sold them too quick , not giving them enough time to get them properly broken in. Those brush knots were both absolute champs and had no issues whatsoever except with my patience or lack thereof!

This one I had re knotted had known problems and as I said I bought it purely as a project to have re knotted. The only thing I would say about the Chubby knots , because they are so dense ; they must be rinsed extensively after every use and given the optimal conditions to dry. This is to avoid the soap rotting away the base of the knot , which is what Rod discovered when he did the re knot. When I used that brush prior to the re knot even after extensive drying when I pinched the base of the knot I could hear and feel a horrible sqwelching noise.

Let me know how you get on with the CH2 when she arrives.

Good morning Will!

It arrived last night. I lathered it twice and shampooed it once. Very dense and lovely! I'm in love with it. I obviously want to keep it nice. I've heard mixed opinions about using a brush stand upside down versus a good rinse/shake and setting it on its base. Your thoughts?

Well it's difficult to find a brush stand that will take the girth of a chubby 2 Blush but a good warm but not hot water rinse directly down the knot into the base of the handle and squeezing ( not to firmly though) the knot gently to get the residual soap out is essential to maintain a knot as dense as a Chubby 2.
If you want to go even further , a sensible dry on the cool setting using a hairdryer. I just gently strop dry the knot on the towel after a good rinse and leave to dry in a well ventilated room , preferably with an open window for 24 hours or so before putting away. There will be some guys spitting their coffee out at what they feel is being excessive but that's just how I do it. I'm glad you are enjoying her so far , there is little better than taking delivery of your first Simpson Chubby brush. Any pics to show her off?
