I have and love a CH2 in Best; many don't like the knot but if you love a bit of scritch and the rough stuff, it is superb. When I got mine it shed like nobody's business but it was clearly a by product of the density and eventually settled down into what for me is a fantastic brush after only a handful of shaves.

I would also suspect in this case that it possible the original owner was soaking or rinsing the brush in extremely hot water which may have contributed to breaking the knot down per your description of the shed.

Regardless, happy that you found a solution and in fact you may likely end up with an even better brush as a result!

Keep us posted!
Yeah, I think it has been through the ringer a bit , particularly with hairs breaking off it would seem at different lengths etc. The two Chubby brushes I had I sold prematurely the CH1 Super and the CH2 Best , I actually found no scritch in either I just didn't break them in long enough and felt they just didn't give and were too dense. The CH2 I'm sending for a re knot is the softest and most luxurious knot I've ever felt. It reminded me of back in the 80's when my Mum had fur coats it was so silky soft. It was a shame to have to re knot it. Thanks and I'll update the thread as and when. I've told Rod I'm in no hurry for it.

There are plenty of people on the forums I would buy a used brush from, and plenty of people whose endorsement means something. I guess, just my opinion.

Good luck to you.

If you know someone who you trust thats one thing; obviously much different from buying a brush you have no history of.  There is a bricks and mortar place I will not name who sells used Morris & Forndran brushes I would not touch something like that.  Knowing a person gives you trust.  Not knowing who can be a disaster.

Fair enough. And in this case it was like a third party e-bay seller or something. I got ya.

Your comment was to never buy a used brush. My response was to point out the good members who we all know (if you spend any time on the forums), you can get a good value from. When that seller has a half dozen other well known forum members vouching for his sale: good enough for me.

Just a little update on my re knot. Rod Neep kindly did my re knot for me with one of his extra dense silvertip knots and although I haven't used it yet ( still defunking ) I'm very pleased at the likeness of the knot to the original in both look and feel. This was only one third the cost of a re knot by Simpson. Here's a before and after pic a few wash outs later.

Awesome, and probably better than a knot full of cyano acrylate. :-)
Congratulations on a nice brush!
