Firstly let me say from the off that I bought this brush knowing full well its sad history of being an eBay purchase that went wrong and turned out to be a shedder.
I purchased this from a TSR member in the UK who fully disclosed the shedding issues and I bought it for a reasonable price to possibly have Simpson re knot . Having subsequently seen the prices for a re knot I feel It's barely worth having it re knotted by Simpson once postage both ways and VAT are added to the initial cost of the job.
So I thought , I'll just use it until it becomes unusable as with the first use it only shed a few hairs during the shave and a few once dry. However now it's losing dozens of hairs per use during and a bit less when dry and before anyone says I must be mashing the knot etc , I'm not and I use it carefully , dry it gently and store it properly.
I was wondering what peoples thoughts are or if they have experience of this as I haven't , normally when a brush sheds in my experience ; it will shed full length hairs but this one is shedding hairs of all different lengths. It sheds long full hairs from root to tip and hairs of various lengths from as short as a cm to an inch and everything in between.
Does anyone have any ideas on why this could be the case or has experience of this in the past from any badger brushes not just the Simpson Chubby line of brushes?
Cheers
