We all have our pet peeves. Things that should be innocuous, but annoy us, or even drive us absolutely nuts.
I thought it would be fun for us to list some of our shaving-related annoyances here.
Here are a few of mine:
BBS
This term has always annoyed me. I know that it conveys a set of ideas to people. Perhaps most of the more experienced of us interpret it as 'a very close shave that was enjoyable and very comfortable as well'. However, the term BBS - baby's butt smooth - just focuses on the closeness of the shave.....which is only one aspect of a good shave.
One of the best shaving-related statements I've heard is something I read on another forum (no idea about the attribution, but it's not mine):
"BBS should be the reward for a good shave, not the aim."
I've always preferred the term CCS (close, comfortable shave), as that's a much more reasonable target to aim for when you start shaving.
Even using BBS to describe the outcome of a shave has it's problems, as newbies see this and then may be inclined to focus on BBS in their own shaves instead of comfort. I always think that if I wanted a BBS shave every time, I'd just have stuck with my multi-blade razor and the 2-pass ATG shaves I used to do. They were always super-close. They were also always harsh. I had many ingrown hairs, lots of skin irritation, etc. There's a reason I moved to traditional wetshaving.
Croap
I don't see this much anymore, but I used to. I initially always read it as 'crap'.....a sort of mental autocorrect, I guess.
Soft-soap means something to me. It's not that much longer, and is less jargon that people have to wade through.

Anyone else have any of these terms or anything about our wetshaving hobby that annoys them?
Remember, we're not trying to attack anyone here. It's just a bit of fun.
