An Update with No Updates

We checked with the local GI practice, and learned that the 2 docs my wife saw are "spearheading" the referral process, but no one knows how long this will take. It is rough on my wife, as she says she is a glass half empty person and wants to plan for all contingencies. That is how we compliment each other, I am the half full person and most easily live in the day without too much worry about the future. So she brings balance to the Force and helps me be more prepared instead of getting caught by a surprise that I should have seen coming!

Today was another one of those get up earlier than wanted to get ready for an appointment 2 towns over, only to have the office call and reschedule for tomorrow. This upset the apple cart of carefully planned scheduling, and I spent a bit of time calling and rescheduling other appts, some trivial some not so much. But done now, enjoying a cup of coffee or 2 while she rests, and getting caught up with you guys!

On another forum, I decided to branch out from my Shave (set up) of the Week group and participate in SE SEptember. I have been rockin' the Sabre this week, and man, I just love that razor. A huge Thank You to Dave in KY for lending me his early this year. He was going to lend me some GEM razors and told me the Sabre just happened land in the package as well! I think I shaved maybe twice with it before ordering my own, the full kit, damn the price, I NEED this razor!!!

And injectors (again, thanks to Dave for selling his Parker to me!) have jumped in and really taken hold of my focus. yesterday I received a very nice Schick Type M, with the little lever on the handle. I guess that is to lock the blade when you put the razor in a Dopp kit? I have been googling it but haven't turned up any original instructions. I have the an M1 and it is really a good injector for me. The M2 that came has that switch. I ordered it as the gent who wrote the Injectors for Dummies threads answered my question on which injectors can readily/correctly be used with twin blades (which also came this week!).

Tomorrow, the Fluffy Industries Copper brush is on deck. That is another handle that just works for me, thanks Ken!

Hope you all have a good hump day!

Razor update: the guard protector lever.

Well, color me shamed! The answer to my lever question was in front of me all along! It was in the Injectors for Dummies thread on Shave Den: "In 1973 the only major functional change to these razors was introduced with a new guard lever marketed initially as the protector that locked the guard from moving and in such a way that you could grab the razor head without cutting your fingers. This covers from 1973 -1984 / 86." Member is BBS, not sure if it is BBS here as well, but someone with that username posted here regarding Schick twin blades and the injectors, and seemed knowledgeable enough for me to believe it is the same gent!

And being of a curious nature, I put in a blade, moved the lever, and proceeded to rub my finger across the blade area! No blood, no cuts! Sunday will most likely be the inaugural shave with both this newer Type M and the twin blades. I have a Type N inbound, and look forward to have a good time during SE September!

As an aside, good thing I didn't enter any sabbaticals this year! Man, I have moved more gear through my shave kit than when I was new and buying razors like crazing in 2016 and 2017. Of course, I didn't have so many friends helping me out, either, lol!

Today's set up and shave:

Everything used in this snap showed up in the last 2 weeks, so sort of a new (to me) products shave! (Yes, I have always had the Mystic Water Sensitive Skin soap, but the puck was new!)

Inside the razor is a new Schick Injector II twin blade. After the photo shoot, I did notice the dial was not set exactly on #3, so I did correct that!

What a great shave! You know, they were onto something with twin blades. Imagine making it triple! And to prevent odd angling of the wrist and arm, what if the head swiveled? And as we love great slick soaps with good post shave properties, what if we add some sort of skin balm strip to the razor?    Tongue

Hope everyone in the USA has a good Labor Day!
