Strong scents can trigger a bad sinus time for the missus. And I don't want to make anyone's eyes or nose water at work, especially not knowing sensitivities of the people coming to the pharmacy. So I have been scentless as much as possible. A mild soapy smell is okay with me. Most unscented soaps have some odor, but none have been objectionable. Haslinger's Aloe Vera has a nice, "natural" scent. I use it on occasion, not wanting to push it with my wife!

The point of the above, is that Mitchell's Wool Fat gets rave reviews, and scent/odor varies by the noses involved! I have Stirling Sheep and it will be a repeat buy. What do you guys think of The Fat? Worth trying some day?

Today's shave was brought to you by the Letter D (for Disturbed). For some reason, (well, I blame YouTube) they have entered my playlist again. While watching Dave's video the other day, i saw Disturbed had a cover of The Sound of Silence. Wow, very different for them, and really, really got me hooked. So today was a Disturbing soundtrack day as I did chores while my wife was at the infusion clinic.

The shave, Wow, fantastic! The Twin injector blades in the Schick adjustable, set at 4, did an outstanding job. Still feeling smooth! And the combo of Mystic Water Sensitive Skin soap and my Trotter Cottonwood handle (w/SynBad knot) made great lather and had me lathering away for the fun of it!

Homefront: still waiting for a surgical consult. I call Beth Israel, office of the surgeon we are referred to, and spoke with a nice lady who made sure to let me know what has happened so far and what she will do as a result of my calling them. If I haven't said it before, I will now: Advocate for yourself or loved one. I am glad I called, even to find out nothing earth shattering. But no on was calling us to say This is where we're at. Probably preaching to the choir, as many of you have said you help loved ones all the time. There is something to the squeaky wheel getting oiled!

That's the news from the Belgrade Lakes region!

MWF does indeed have a mild soapy scent. I find it very enjoyable! One of my favorite soap scents in the wetshaving world.

But be aware, it can be finicky to get a good lather with MWF. If you use it often and keep the puck hydrated it seems to work much better. Its a triple-milled, hard soap with lanolin. If you don't use it often (like me), be sure to bloom the soap with a tablespoon of warm water for about 10 minutes prior to hitting it with your brush. You'll also probably need more water than you think. All these tricks are well documented on the forums. I know you use synthetic knots, so that will help you too! The post shave with MWF is tops in my book. But ya, its my most fussy soap in the den.

My thoughts mirror Paul's except I don't use it as frequently as he does. Never have trouble but some feel the problem is their water being hard too.

Thanks guys! Mystic Water Soap used to be my fussy favorite. And my water is sort of hard, but not real hard. For many years now, I add a pinch of citric acid to the basin, and I have no problems with lather!

Maggard Razors is out, so I will add this to the Some Day list! I have so many good soaps now, I don't know what I am thinking!

What they said!

I can't think of a single soap I couldn't lather... Even Shannon's and Mystic Waters didn't give me any issues. However, I fought and fought with MWF.

I found the scent quite mild and very fleeting during and especially post shave. It's been a long time since I used it, though. At some point I got tired of the fight and pitched it.

Edit: Eric, it looks like the refill is the same price on Amazon ($15). If you have Prime, they may deliver it yesterday.

I'm late to the party, but another "what they said", and to echo Paul, (1) MWF has a pleasant, mild, soapy scent, and (2) I water mine too.  I have a spray bottle filled with distilled water.  Every few days, I sit the puck on a small trivet and hit it from the top and all sides.   There is a reason MWF has been around since forever - and not with any "new improved" versions, SEs, or "gentlemen, start your engines" drops.  When you lather up MWF, it just works great!

It's good to hear that you have pulled or are about to pull the trigger Eric.  Enjoy your MWF.

One thing I've never done, but maybe I should have tried... Has anyone tried to grate a puck? I know this works well for other tough to lather soaps. Wonder if it'll help the lather-ability of MWF?
