You would LOVE a Techichi "The Hive" brush by Don that I used today. Soft like a cloud and a soap destroyer as well. Cheap and a sleeper in the synthetic brushes out there as far as I'm concerned. WOW, they're on sale now too !!

What color did you get ?

I did not order, just poking fun about enabling me!

First use of the Groovy brush with the 30mm Timberwolf knot from Maggard Razors. Wow! Thanks Dave in KY for recommending this knot. It is exactly what I look for in a knot, lots of softness, lots of splay, and NO POKING!!  I love it. I will try to get some "working" shots of it.

In other knot news, I am pulling the 28mm SynBad, and have on order a knot recommended by Stubble Daddy, also from Maggard Razors, the Black & White, and another SynBad, in the fan style instead of bulb. According to Andrew at AP Shave, the fan has more splay, so I'll try both. Anyone interested in the 28mm bulb SynBad, let me know and it will travel to you!

I gave the SynBad a gentle twist, and it looks as if it should come out easily. Then I can sit and pick out the silicone!

Beautiful pairings Eric, I think you hit it spot on. I've always ignored the Cashmere brush (no clue what type of backbone, etc they have). After seeing it paired with the right handle, it might be worth considering.

I was looking back at my initial thinking about knots and handle s, and realized that I could have responded better to you, Mr Doug. My apologies for overlooking the part of your post regarding the Cashmere knot.

I had one a couple of years back, but I liked the SynBad so much better that I sold the Cashmere. I really couldn't remember anything about it, other than what Andrew wrote about the knot on his website. Recently Ken mentioned having one, and knowing Ken, he may have called it "Skippy"! I find it splays super easy and is very soft on the face, with minimal backbone. It is not as dense as a SynBad knot, but I can get it to hold 3 passes worth of lather.

I use brushes with both the Maggards Timberwolf and a cashmere, and love both of those knots. Haven't tried the SynBad yet, but it sounds very promising.

Definitely helpful, thanks. As long as its not like it's dopelganger here, it's worth a shot.

I usually add to my “skippy” description of the cashmere knot. With the extra caveat of. Close your eyes and you’d say that couple of butterflies were softly painting lather onto your face. 
I will add that even though it splays easily and doesn’t have a lot of “backbone”. It can still make lather even off hard pucks. IMHE

I also really like my Omega 10098 boar brush. 
Took a while to break in. But it’s longer handle and higher loft make it a wiener for me. My $.02 FWIW

Blackland week this week. And knot comparisons, because fun. On work days, I am using the Vector with the Protouch MG from last week. On days off, I am using the Sabre, Level 1, with a new Personna blade (PTFF, is that the coating? Anyway, it is the SS coated that came with the Sabre. Last week, 100 from the bay came, so I am set for life! Anyone need some GEM coated blades, PM me and they'll magically appear in your mail collection device in a few day!).


Today I used the 26mm SynBad that I got back in '18 or '19. Wow, more fantastic than I remember! Made the 2BED feel bit scritchy! My question for myself is how much scritch is too much? Does it need to be "butterflies painting lather on my face?" (thanks, Ken, I love that description!) Or can I tolerate some scritch?  All burning questions I need to know, ha ha.
